FOREST PARK INDIVIDUAL EDUCATION SCHOOL ALLIANCE OF TEACHERS AND PARENTS BYLAWS ARTICLE I Definition This organization shall

be known as the Forest Park Alliance of Teachers and Parents, hereinafter called the ATP. The ATP as understood in the document is comprised of teachers, parents and administrators of the Forest Park Individual Education School. ARTICLE II Purpose 1. Promote and support the Individual Education philosophy of the Forest Park I.E. School within the school and community of Joliet; 2. Encourage parents to participate in both academic and creative curricular activities; 3. Raise money for the benefit of the students, school and staff; 4. Assist the Forest Park I.E. School in its endeavor to pursue quality education. ARTICLE III Membership and Dues Section 1. Membership

The membership of the ATP shall consist of ALL parents/guardians of the children attending Forest Park I.E. and ALL staff at Forest Park I.E. Section 2. Dues

At NO time shall dues be charged.

ARTICLE IV Board Members Section 1. The elected members of this Board shall consist of the following voting officers: a President or two co-presidents, Vice President, Secretary and Treasurer. Other elected voting Board members shall include a chairperson or co-chairpersons in charge of cultural arts programs and fifteen members-at-large. The president shall only vote in case of a tie. Section 2 The Principal of Forest Park I.E. shall be an Ex-Officio member of the Board. Section 3. At least one voting volunteer teacher representative shall be a member of the Board. ARTICLE V Terms and Election of Board Members A. Officers and Board members shall be nominated in March and be elected in April by ballot. ATP members may nominate themselves for any board position. B. There shall be one ballot per parent/guardian. C. The term of office for all Board members shall begin June 1 and end May 31. D. Officers of the Board shall serve in any specific office for only two consecutive terms. E. All ATP business and monies shall be turned over to the incoming board between the last general meeting and May 31.

ARTICLE VI Duties of Board Members A. The president(s) shall preside over all general meetings and board meetings, be an exofficio member of all committees except the nominating committee, appoint special committees, perform such other duties as may be assigned by the board, coordinate the work of the board and committees, and confer on a regular basis with the principal regarding all ATP functions. B. The vice president shall assume the duties of the president as written in Section A of Article VI if the president is absent or unable to fulfill those duties. C. The secretary shall record the minutes of all general meeting and board meetings, conduct correspondence of the ATP as directed, and perform such duties as may be delegated. D. The treasurer shall keep the books in good standing, deposit monies, document all disbursed monies as approved by the Board, present the yearly budget at the first general meeting, report on financial standing at each meeting, and provide an annual report at the last general meeting. E. The outgoing executive board (president/s, vice-president, treasurer, secretary) shall appoint a person or persons to review financial records of the previous year to be completed between June 1 and July 1 before the beginning of the school year. F. The signature of treasurer and either president or co-president shall be required for checks written from the ATP account. Receipts for all checks should be submitted to the treasurer. G. The members-at-large shall attend Board meetings and general meetings, participate in those meetings and be responsible for at least one activity. H. The teacher representative(s) shall attend meetings and serve as liaison between the board and teachers. I. The chairpersons(s) in charge of cultural arts programs shall research cultural arts programs to be offered, submit programs to the Board plan presentation dates along with the principal, and work out contracts for the programs. J. All decisions by the Board shall be communicate to the Forest Park I.E. School. K. Any elected member of the ATP Board, after consecutive absences from board meetings, shall be contacted by board-approved form letter prior to the next regular meeting. The form letter will advise the member that he or she must contact the President by telephone or letter within 10 days or his or her position will be vacated. To fill any vacated position, the person with the highest number of votes from the last election records shall be contacted to fill that position, with the contacts continuing in this fashion until such time as there are no further candidates from which to choose. In the event, however, that the number of members at large falls below 13, the board may appoint such members as necessary to bring the total to 13. After that time, the board will continue to operate without that position until the next election.

ARTICLE VII Meetings Section 1. Board meetings

A. Regular Board meetings shall be scheduled once a month during the school year. The school year is from August through June. B. Additional meetings may be called by the Board. C. A simple majority of the Board members shall constitute a quorum. Section 2. General meetings

A. General meetings shall be held at least two times a year for all ATP members. B. Additional meetings may be called by the Board. C. The agenda for the first general meeting of the school year shall include a proposed budget for school year to be approved by the general membership. At the last general meeting of the school year, the new Board members shall be introduced and the treasurers annual report shall be presented. D. Members present shall constitute a quorum. ARTICLE VIII Amendments to the Bylaws A. Any member of the Park Park ATP may propose an amendment to these bylaws. B. These bylaws may be amended by a proposal submitted in writing and presented for consideration at any Board meeting. C. Said proposal shall be voted on at the succeeding Board meeting. D. A proposed amendment shall become effected by two-third majority vote of the Board members present.

Explanation of Funds GENERAL FUND: The General Fund is all money in the ATP account less the total of individual funds. Money for the General Fund comes from fundraisers, gifts and/or donations, and money allocated by the ATP Board from the previous year. The General Fund is used for operating expenses, Hospitality, Flower Fund, Teacher Appreciation Luncheon, Cultural Arts, donation to the Kindergarten Trip, Fifth Grade Trip and any other needs as approved by the ATP Board on the Board of School Inspectors. At the end of the school year, the current ATP Board shall allocate enough funds for the newly elected ATP Board to begin the new school year. SCHOOL GIFT FUND: Each year, the ATP donates money to the school to be used for any need for the school, teachers, and/or students, as voted upon and approved by the teachers, the principal, the ATP Board and the Board of School Inspectors. This amount will vary from year to year, depending on revenues and expenses of the ATP Board. After all allocations for the General Fund and other designated funds have been made, and money has been allocated for use by the next years ATP Board, the remaining money shall constitute the School Gift Fund. ATHLETIC FUND: The Athletic Fund was established to provide uniforms and equipment for the basketball team. Beyond that, any future requests to the Athletic Fund must be approved by the ATP Board. Money for the Athletic Fund comes mainly from the sale of t-shirts and sweat suits. Other fundraisers may be held to the benefit of the Athletic Fund. FIFTH GRADE FUND: Money for the Fifth Grade comes mainly from the fundraiser(s) held throughout the year by the Fifth Grade Trip Committee. Funds may also include donations and/or gifts from other sources and donation from the ATP Board, if needed. These funds shall be used for the Fifth Grade Trip expenses and the Fifth Grade End-of-Year party. The use of any remaining monies must be approved by the ATP Board.

PLAYGROUND FUND: This fund was established in January 1993, by the ATP Board. Its purpose is to pay for the new playground equipment. FLOWER FUND: The flower fund was established to send flowers/cards to those students/teachers who were in the hospital. In addition, the ATP Board also sends cards to students, ATP Board Members on specific occasions. The Forest Park ATP has accounts at the following locations.
