Pre-Installation Setup
To get the best performance while working with Creo Elements/Pro you have to do some pre-settings in the workstation operating system.

File System
The Creo Elements/Pro installation directory, the starting directory, the working directory, and the directories in which Creo Elements/Pro data are stored must be NTFS formatted. To check this Open the Explorer, Select the D Drive > Property. If it is not partitioned as NTFS, follow the steps to convert a volume to NTFS from the command prompt Open Command Prompt. In the command prompt window, type convert drive_letter: /fs:ntfs

For example, typing convert D: /fs:ntfs would format drive D: with the NTFS format. It will prompt you to restart for the file system conversion.

Notes To open command prompt, click Start, point to Programs, point to Accessories, and then click Command Prompt. You must specify that the drive should be converted when the computer is restarted. Otherwise, you cannot convert the current drive. If convert cannot lock the drive (for example, the system volume or the current drive), it offers to convert the drive the next time the computer restarts.

Virtual Memory Paging File

While working with Large Assembly and drawings, Creo Elements/Pro will require more memory. Therefore, you have to set the proper virtual memory size for better performance. Right Click My Computer > Properties > Advanced > Performance Settings >

Creo Elements/Pro 5.0 Installation, for PTC Authorized Training Center (ATC)

In the Drive list, click the drive that contains the paging file you want to change.

Under Paging file size for selected drive, type a new paging file size in megabytes in the Initial size (MB) or Maximum size (MB) box, and then click Set. For ATCs Machine (Physical RAM Size: 1.0 GB), Set Initial Size as 2048 MB, Maximum Size as 2050 MB in C Drive. If the Free space is not enough to set the memory in C Drive set the Initial Size as 1024 MB, Maximum Size as 1025 MB in C & D Drives.

Note If you decrease the size of either the minimum or maximum page file settings, you must restart your computer to see the effects of those changes. Increases typically do not require a restart. You must be logged on as an administrator to the local computer to change the size of your computer's paging file. Ensure the swap is set to C drive. Keeping the swap on one drive improves performance. Also set the swap size min 1 times physical RAM, max 2 times physical RAM.

Disable Windows Firewall

To access the License From the License server, you have to disable the Windows Fore wall. The steps are as follows, Go to Start > Settings > Control Panel> Windows Firewall

Installing PTC License Server

Create the following Directories in the Local machine. D:\Ptc Insert the product software DVD (Creo Elements/Pro 5.0, Data code is M070) on your Windows operating system. The PTC Setup main window opens (If it is not opening, Double click the setup.exe from the DVD Drive). Start the PTC.Setup utility. The following screen appears.

Click Next. The Accept License Agreement screen appears

Click PTC License Server to start the installation of FLEXnet Publisher.

The Define Installation Components screen appears. Installation Directory: Change the default installation directory as D:\Ptc\flexnet. PTC Setup creates the specified new directory. Browse the license file you have received from PTC. Click Install after you have selected the license file. It will ask you to create the directory, accept it.

Installing and Starting Creo Elements/Pro

Click Creo Elements/Pro & Creo Elements/Pro Mechanica.

The Define Installation Components screen appears Installation Directory: Change the default installation directory as D:\Ptc\Creo Elements\Pro5.0. PTC Setup creates the specified new directory. Select all the Components and the Sub Components also if you want /pick the product feature and select Install all sub-feature. Click next after you have selected your components. It will ask you to create the directory, accept it.

The License Configurations dialog box opens. Click Edit in the License Configure Commands dialog box. The Command Configuration dialog box opens. Add the Startup command (proeCreo) and edit the licenses Options as shown in the image. Click next.
