RMTs industrial action on London Underground and TfL - which DLR staff and TSSA members may soon be part of too - will put pressure on management to reconsider their proposals. The more solid the action, the more pressure it will apply, the further the company will back down. Of course the unions are willing to discuss stations reorganisation - members have plenty of ideas for positive change.

We may win outright and force the complete withdrawal of Fit for The Future - Stations and other job-cutting plans. We can be confident that we will win at least some major concessions. We know one thing for certain: if we dont fight back, we will lose and we will keep on losing.

Ongoing action in our casualisation dispute ... Only familiarise members of staff who are employed directly by London Underground Ltd and are taking up a substantive post in the location and grades concerned ie. refuse to familiarise anyone who does not fulfil these criteria, such as TfL Ambassadors or managers who would not normally work at that location carrying out the duties.

Under LULs plans, all these Local B stations would not have a Station Supervisor on duty most of the time. What if there is a one-under, assault, PTI incident, door fault, PEA, signal failure, etc? Debbie French (CSA Bank), Mo Mujahid (Train Operator, Leytonstone), Esme Bradbury (CSA Chancery Lane) and Paul Penny (Train Operator, Loughton) joined other members of RMTs Womens, Black & Ethnic Minority, LGBT and Young Members Advisory Committees to scrutinise the plans. Managements own document reveals that the company admits that the proposals will have a negative equality impact on disabled and older staff; and that there are significantly more black and ethnic minority staff in the grades where it plans to wield the jobs axe. Moreover, requiring CSAs to work alone in public areas in remote stations will make staff vulnerable to assault, especially those who may be targeted for hate crime. RMT has presented the reps findings to management, and awaits a response. But unless we drive the point home with solid industrial action, dont hold your breath ...
