Imports: CIF, by origin

Exports: FOB, by last known destination

Trade System: General

Overview:
The value of the exports of Philippines increased in 2012 by 8.2 percent to reach 52.0 bln US$ (see table 1 and graph 1). Similarly, imports
increased by 2.6 percent to reach 65.3 bln US$ (see table 2 and graph 1). This resulted in a significant trade deficit of 13.3 bln US$ in 2012
(see graph 1). By MDG regions, the large deficits were recorded chiefly with Western Asia (-6.0 bln US$) and South-eastern Asia (-5.1 bln
US$) (see graph 2). Trade, on the other hand, also recorded a surplus with Developed Asia-Pacific (+1.4 bln US$). Philippines' trade, especially
exports, was relatively concentrated among a few partners: in 2012, 9 major partners accounted for 80 percent of exports compared to 12
major partners for imports (see graph 3).

Exports Profile:
In 2012, machinery and transport equipment (SITC section 7) was the largest
commodity group for exports, representing 59.6 percent of exported goods. Other
major commodity groups for exports included miscellaneous manufactured articles
(SITC section 8) and manufactured goods classified chiefly by material (SITC section
6), accounting respectively for 11.4 and 9.4 percent of exports (see table 1). Major
partners for exports were Japan, USA and China (see table 4). Over the last three
years, top exported commodities were electronic integrated circuits and
microassemblies (HS code 8542), automatic data processing machines and units
thereof (HS code 8471) and diodes, transistors and similar semiconductor devices
(HS code 8541) (see table 3).
