Plan
Hardware used: Poster Paper [A3] This poster paper must be in the colors: Purple, dark blue, grey, and yellow, in order to make a creative poster but with a particular/neat color scheme. Paper for leaflets [A4] The leaflets will be created on Word Document, but they need to be printed on paper in order to hand out to people. Printer. A printer is needed to print out information and pictures to put on poster, and to print out essay.]

Software used: Blogger.com [I will use this website to create my own website which I can update regularly.] Survey Monkey [This program will be used to create the survey to collect the data I need to have in my presentation.] Change.org [This is also another program I will be using, but this software will be used to create a petition people can sign to support my cause.] iMovie [This isnt an online program, but a software on my computer itself, which I will use to pull all the information, persuasion and solution into one to present to an audience.] Facebook [To create a Facebook page for people to be updated on the process of the project.] Twitter [To create a Twitter account for people to be updated on the process of the project.]

Skills/Knowledge needed: Artistic/Creativity. This skill may seem unnecessary, but in my eyes it is essential. The posters and leaflets are one of the most important methods of getting peoples attention to my project, so they need to be eyecatching, artistic, and creative. If you have dont have even the least of artistic talent, or any creativity and imagination whatsoever, people wont be drawn to read the posters and leaflets. Charisma. When discussing the problem with both students, teachers and the champions you are persuading into a solution, if you are stiff and non-charismatic, people will be bored with you, thus not taking in the information you are (boringly) explaining. Background with technology. There are many aspects in this project that have technology included, like the Facebook page, Twitter account, Website, Survey and Petition. You dont need to have exceeding

knowledge and skills with technology, but it would be extremely helpful to you, and would speed up the process when it comes to using technology in the process. Skills with English and writing persuasive pieces. One of the methods of presenting the problem and solution especially to the higher authorities I will be persuading is by writing an essay. If you fail to write persuasive writing pieces, then the point of writing an essay will be lost. Skills/knowledge with iMovie. Like with the skills needed for technology, only basic and background knowledge is required in order to run through the process with ease. The iMovie will ultimately by one of the most important aspects in the entire project, because it is tying everything together; all the support I have gathered, the evidence for the support, the information, the statistics, the solution, will all be tied together with the iMovie. If you dont know how to create an iMovie in the first place, this wont have the same persuasive effect it should have. Able to work towards a deadline; work according to the time limitation. Of course there is a deadline, which is not surprisingly soon. So in order to complete the plan and complete the project and get the desired effect of essentially getting a solution, you need to be able to work fast, yet efficiently and effectively.

Steps
Step that is to be carried out:
Step 1 Firstly, understand what the problem is, and why it is a problem. If you dont know yourself why it is a problem, you cant expect to fully persuade others that it is a problem. Step 2 Now that you understand the problem, we can move on. Next, go to the page www.facebook.com and create a Facebook page. To do this, click on the settings image on the far right of the page, and it will present a dropbox. Select the option Create a page.

Step 3 Once you have selected the Create a page option, proceed through the steps by naming the Title More Social Events in QA and write a brief description of what the problem is and why it is a problem (You should have discussed this with yourself in step 1). Step 4 After that, visit the page www.twitter.com to create a new account. To do this, enter your email and a password you will remember. Step 5 Like the Facebook page, proceed through this step by naming the account More Social Events in QA and another brief description of what the problem is and why it is a problem (You should have discussed this with yourself in step 1). Step 15 After that, you want to create a logo. A logo is important because it gives people something to associate with the cause. Step 16 You can use programs such as Paintbrush, or online sources of your choice. In Paintbrush, there are color choices to the side, alongside the option of drawing lines and various shapes. You can use these to create

your logo. Step 17 2 minutes. Now you have a substantial amount of methods for raising awareness, you need way of gathering support. One of the ways in this design will be a survey. To create a survey, go to www.surveymonkey.com and you can create an easy survey. Step 18 10 minutes. The questions you will need to include will be the following: Do you believe Qatar Academy has enough social events throughout the year? (Yes/No; Multiple Question) Do you believe that QA needs to include more social events? (Yes/No; Multiple Question) Explain why you answered yes/no for the previous question. (Paragraph) Which events would you like QA to include in its annual calendar? (Multiple Question & Other) Would you attend any of the events previously listed if you had the chance? (Yes/No & Maybe please state why -) Step 19 -For the questions that

have Yes/No Multiple Question in brackets next to the question above, select the Multiple Question Yes,No option underneath the textbox where you write your question. Step 20 For the questions that have Paragraph in brackets next to the question above, select the Paragraph option underneath the textbox where you write your question. Step 21 Now we have to create the petition. To create the petition go to the page www.change.org. Step 22 Next, sign into the site by either creating a new account or signing in with an account you already have. Step 23 Click the orange button that says Start a petition. Step 24 Firstly, write Mrs Kuster as the person whom you want to petition. She is the champion for this project, as she is the MYP coordinator. --

Step 25 30 seconds. For the question What do you want them to do? type Allow more social events in Qatar Academy. Step 26 10 minutes.

For the last question of why it is important, be straight to the point, but remember to include: What the problem is. Why it is a problem. Why we need a solution. How a solution will benefit the student body and teachers of Qatar Academy. Step 27 After you have completed creating the pages and methods for raising awareness and gathering information, you have to advertise them. To get the information and the support by people answering your survey and signing your petition, share it on not only the projects social media pages, but also your personal Twitter, Facebook, etc, so your friends can complete them. Step 28 Once you have a lot of support and information you have gathered from your survey and petition, you can start on the website. Step 29 To create the website, start by visiting www.webs.com which is a great site for creating professional looking websites. Step 30 Next, either register for an account or log in with an account you already have. Step 31 Stretched out on a week.

After that, create different pages for the Survey Results and what they mean, the Facebook Link, the Twitter Link, Background Info, and a link to the petition titled Sign the petition! Step 32 For the home page, you want to discuss the problem and why it is a problem, so people visiting the website will know what they are being told about. Step 33 Next to the paragraph you previously wrote, insert a picture of a school event/community. Step 34 Underneath that picture/diagonal to the introductory paragraph, write a paragraph on a possible solution and how it would benefit the school. Step 35 Next to that paragraph, insert a picture of a student and their opinion on the topic coming out of a speech bubble, with their name and class underneath. Step 36 Make sure to create a title at the top of the page, which should be More social events in QA. Step 37 Next, move onto the first page you created in Step 31, which is the Survey Results and what they mean. Insert a picture of the results you have gathered, either pulled

into a graph or chart (Survey Monkey will do this for you, there is no need to manually create a graph/chart). Step 38 15-20 minutes. Write up an analysis according to the data gathered from the survey. If the majority of people agreed there should be social events in QA and would go to them if they had the opportunity, clearly state that. If it is the opposite, state that too; you must be honest. Step 39 5 minutes. One of the questions included in the survey was Which social events do you think Qatar Academy should have? Write down what events students think should be included in the school at the bottom of this page. Step 40 5 minutes. Lastly for this page, include a link to the survey for people who havent filled it out, to fill it out. Step 41 5 minutes. For the next page, which is the Facebook page, hyperlink the text Facebook to the Facebook page. To do this, copy the Facebook title text, and click the image of the two links above the textbox, and paste the link to the Facebook Page. Step 42 5 minutes. For the Twitter page, do the same as you did in Step 41, except with the Twitter account page.

Step 43 For the Background Info page, you have to research how social events have benefited students in different schools around the world. Step 44 Once you have got information you are happy with, report this into either one or multiple paragraphs on what youve learnt. Step 45 For the Sign the Petition! page, do the same as you did in Step 41 & Step 42, except with the link to the online petition. Step 46 Once you have completed your website, share it onto your projects Facebook and Twitter pages you made in steps 2-5. Step 47 Congratulations, you have made it up to presenting your information! The first method of presenting information and your problem/solution is by making an iMovie. Step 48 To make this iMovie, start by opening the iMovie program. Step 49 Next, insert a title by dragging and dropping a basic text post into the timeline section. Step 51 Then, insert a short video clip or various pictures of Qatar Academy, and add a voice-over explaining what Qatar Academy is (where

its located, what program it follows, etc.) Step 52 For the next slide, you are introducing the problem. Do this by adding another text post, and title it Lack of social events. Step 53 Insert various pictures of school events, and add a voice-over of you explaining that there arent enough social events in Qatar Academy, which makes the school lack community and school spirit. Step 54 The next scene is of a student (who supports the cause) declaring their support. To do this you must find a student who supports your cause, and (politely) ask them if they are okay with being on video. Step 55 Now, you need to film them, which you can do so by using a camera, which they should be filmed explaining why not having enough social events affects the school in their opinion. Step 56 Once you have this footage, you can insert it into the movie, after the slide of introducing the problem. Step 57 After the footage of the student, add another text post which lists how social events can improve school community. To make sure this isnt too boring, add a

voice-over of you quickly explaining the brief bullet points. Step 59 -Next, like the student footage, you need to insert footage of a teacher explaining why QA needs more social events. Step 60 5 minutes. To do this you must find a teacher who supports your cause, and (politely) ask them if they are okay with being on video. Step 61 Now, you need to film them, which you can do so by using a camera, which they should be filmed explaining why not having enough social events affects the school in their opinion. Step 62 Once you have this footage, you can insert it into the movie, after the slide of explaining how social events can improve the school community. Step 63 After you inserted this footage, take a picture of the graph that would have been made by Survey Monkey that shows the results of the survey visually. Step 64 Add a voiceover to the picture of the Survey Monkey results briefly explaining the results (Note: This should only be included if the survey results help back up the cause) 30 minutes.

Step 65 Now, state a possible solution by writing it up in a big bright circle, so it draws attention to it. Step 66 After the solution is shown, you insert a new text post and list how the solution will be followed through. Step 67 Next, list the social media sites which your audience can visit. Step 68 Finally, to put an end to this movie, write a simple Thank you for your attention at the end. Step 69 Congratulations again! You have completed the main method of presenting information! But there is one last method, which is a meeting. Step 70 In order to have a meeting, you must negotiate an agreeable timing with all everyone who will be included in the meeting. Step 71 In this particular design, the meeting should be scheduled for 12:55 on a Tuesday, which is during a technology lesson. Step 72 If 12:55 on a Tuesday isnt suitable for you, find a timing that is appropriate, and make sure your champions know when the timings are. Step 73 Now that you have a meeting time, you need to

practice how the meeting will go. Step 74 The first step in the meeting is to introduce yourself and explain the problem statement in brief. Step 75 Then, read out 2 students opinions on why it is a problem, and 1 students opinion on how having the problem fixed can make their learning experience better. Step 76 Next, present your iMovie presentation (make sure it is hooked up to a projector before the meeting starts). Step 77 Then, pass around the survey results (Note: Only if the results help back up working towards a solution for your cause) These survey results should be printed off before the meeting starts, also. Step 78 Then, explain a possible solution, and discuss the feasibility of the solution. You must be ready to fight back negative comments, and reassure them that your solution will help the school. Step 79 Conclude the meeting by asking if anyone has any questions. Step 80 Finally, thank the audience for having your attention, and make sure they have a copy of your Essay, iMovie

Total time:

630 minutes.

Evaluation of the Plan: (Response Text, Future tense)

1. Could someone feasibly create your product/solution using this plan and your design? Justify your answer! I believe that on a scale from 1-10, 10 being extremely hard to create the product using this plan, it would rank about a 6 or a 7. It isnt too easy, and it isnt exceedingly complicated. This does have something to do with how the steps are written. The steps are baby steps, where one step would be to open a program, the next to click a button, the third the scroll down, the fourth to click another button, etc. The steps are quiet detailed and give much information in one step. For example, in Step 51 for example, the step is Then, insert a short video clip or various pictures of Qatar Academy, and add a voice-over explaining what Qatar Academy is (where its located, what program it follows, etc.) Instead of writing Find a video of Qatar Academy, Drag it into the iMovie timeline space, Click the microphone button on the left toolbar, Record your voice explaining what Qatar Academy is stretched out into multiple questions, it merged a few steps for a single step, into one. This can either be complicated for some, or easy for others. It could be seen as complicated for some, because it is asking a lot just for one step, and it isnt babying you throughout the process. It could also be seen as easy for others, because it is very detailed and explains exactly what is wanted. Overall, the feasibility isnt the easiest, but if the person trying to create my product using this plan has all the knowledge/skills I described in detail at the start of the plan, they should be able to power through it.

2. Discuss your time estimates and the total time you will need to complete the project? In many steps in this plan where it asks for the time estimate, I wrote 5 -10 minutes. By having a very limited time to complete the project, 5-10 minutes creates a large window that could be efficiently used. The reason I wrote 5-10 minutes was because for someone with more developed skills in using iMovie for example, will take a shorter amount of time to complete the step, compared to someone with minimum skill level in that particular area. It all depends on the skill and knowledge you have when it comes to an approximate time it will take to proceed through the steps. I have calculated that using this plan, it will take approximately 630 minutes, which converts to 10 and a half hours. I know that the due date is the 11th of January, and that I have exactly 11 lessons after this plan is due. If each lesson is about 45 minutes long (Taking away the first ten minutes for the beginning of class and ten from the last part of class, which will be dedicated to cleaning up and getting back to class) which is not including the winter break. This means I will have about 8 and a half hours of class work, meaning there is approximately 3 hours (Have half an hour extra to finish and polish everything up) I will need to work on outside of class. 3 hours of work outside of class is merely 3 days. In conclusion, if I use my class time wisely and dedicate 3 homework days to this project, I should be good to go. 3. What strategies will you use to make sure you have enough time to complete your project? To make sure I have enough time to complete the project, I have created a calendar, so I can visually see when the due date is, when I have classes, and the other days in which I will allocate to working at home. I have allocated the days in which I will work at home each a few weeks apart, so I can spend extra time on the project in different stages I am in towards completing the project. I have highlighted the classes I have for the project in green, and also the days I will work on the project at home. I have marked out the days I will be away in New Zealand for holiday in purple, so I wont be able to work on the project. The calendar is the following:

4. What changes did you have to make to your design? Justify your answer!

~I will comment on this question when I am in the Create stage, if I go through any complications that make me change my design~
