Solar Decathlon Europe 2014 in France: 20 teams have been selected

Eighteen months ahead of the Solar Decathlon Europe 2014 competition, which for the first time will be held in France, a key step in the preparations has now been completed the selection o the 20 pro!ects admitted to the competition" !he call for candidates launched by the "rgani#ing $ommittee on 10 "ctober 2012 under the auspices of the French go%ernment was a great success the organi#ing team recei%ed 44 candidacies rom 2# countries& !he candidate teams included proposals from countries in the European 'nion as well as from (sia and the (mericas )*orth, $entral and South+& !here were also transnational teams the 'nited States with ,ermany, France and -taly, or $hile and France, and Spain with Denmark& !hese multiple origins and pro.ects may announce a new era for the Solar Decathlon competition and scientific collaboration in solar energy /0D& !he di%ersity of the candidacies recei%ed is %ery encouraging for the competition1s organi#ers in France& (fter the meeting of the Solar Decathlon Europe 2014 Scientific $ommittee on 12 December, chaired by (lain 3augard, on 14 December the Selection $ommittee drew up the official list of the 20 teams admitted to the competition in 5ersailles in 6une76uly 2014&

!he "rgani#ing $ommittee is delighted with the success the call for candidacies has met with around the world and, more generally, by the high le%el of interest that the candidate uni%ersities ha%e shown for this new Solar Decathlon Europe competition, to be organi#ed in 5ersailles& For one month, France will be the international showcase for solar energy and energy7positi%e buildings&
