7. Long job names over 80 characters for Secure Print will cause a normal print. Figure 1: Color plane misregistration.

INFORMATION:
New Phaser 7760 firmware is available. Versions are OS 6.1 / PS 5.2.1 / Net 40.34.03.10.2010

PROBLEM(S):
1. Gross mis-registration of the color planes (see figure 1) usually only on the first print after power on or after coming out of standby. Color planes on subsequent prints are registered correctly. See Service Flash 225 for an example. 2. Stapler adjustments in diagnostics are inoperative. These include: a. Booklet fold position b. Booklet staple position c. Booklet staple alignment d. Fine adjustment of fold and staple position 3. Margin alignment on SRA3 media is incorrect. 4. Postscript images printed in standard or enhanced modes become scrambled or have white lines (Figure 2). The PQ issues are resolved by a power cycle of the printer or downloading the 7760Process_OffJob_Reboot xxxx.ps file (Altivec off) snippet. 5. PJL for Thick Glossy Media is not working with PCL drivers. 6. Several problems when sending PDF files: a. JBIG2 compression PDF direct submission reset problem. b. Mixed portrait/landscape PDF direct submission problem. c. Mix of transparent object and non-transparent object direct submission non-printing problem.

CAUSE(S):
1. A software conflict between margin calibration and RegiCon was causing a color plane shift.. 2. Stapler adjustments in diagnostics had wrong limits 3. SRA3 margin alignment was incorrect. A new driver is required for the SRA3 margin update to function correctly. 4. A buffer overflow issue of the Altivec cache causes scrambled images or white lines.

SOLUTION:
Note 1: This PS code should only be used by customers experiencing the specific issue(s) highlighted in yellow as noted in the Problem section of this bulletin. If unanticipated effects occur, the current production code, PS 3.5.8 is available on the Phaser 7760 Drivers & Downloads to regress to. Note 2: It is recommended that the 7760Process_OffJob_Reboot.ps file be removed if it was ever loaded on the printer because it slows down printer performance and throughput. The PostScript file 7760_DeleteProcess_OFFJob_Reboot.ps, included in the zipped file with the link, can be downloaded to the printer to check for the file and remove it from the printer if it is resident. Use the same download instructions contained within this document. The 7760_DeleteProcess_OFFJob_Reboot.ps can be downloaded either before or after the firmware maintenance release has been downloaded.
