Used to move materials over horizontal paths with no restrictions on the area covered (i.e., unrestricted area) Provide vertical movement if the truck has lifting capabilities Provide more flexibility in movement than conveyors and cranes Not licensed to travel on public roads "commercial trucks" are licensed to travel on public roads

CONVEYERS
Conveyor system a material handling equipment that moves materials from one location to another. Conveyors are especially useful in applications involving the transportation of heavy or bulky materials. Conveyor systems allow quick and efficient transportation for a wide variety of materials Conveyors are used:

1. Bulk storage
This consists of simply storing materials in an open floor area, generally in pallet or containers. It requires little or no storage equipment.
3. Drawer system
These are costlier that selves but more convenient. This system is generally used for tools, hardware and other small items.

3. Radio Frequency (RF) Tag Data encoded on chip encased in a tag Noncontact: can be read when the tag is within 30 ft. of an antenna Tags can either be attached to a container, or permanently or temporarily to an item RF tags have greater data storage capability than bar codes 4. Magnetic Stripes Data encoded on a magnetic stripe that is readable in almost any environment Requires contact with a reader Greater storage capability and more expensive than bar codes
