COMPETENCY: Shaping. Perform hair partings for shaping. PERFORMANCE OBJECTIVE: Student will demonstrate his/her ability to: 1. Detangle mannequin hair, as per demonstrated procedure. 2. Execute a clean, straight part from center forehead to center nape, using a styling comb. 3. Execute a clean, straight part from ear to ear across center top of head, using a styling comb. 4. Execute clean, straight parts for a rectangular and triangular section in the back center area of the head. 5. Execute clean, straight parts for a rectangular and triangular section in the back center area of the head. 6. Define Trichology and the basic fundamentals of hair inclusive of hair composition, hair divisions, hair growth, hair density, types of hair, characteristics of hair, abnormal conditions, diseases, and disorders of hair. 2. Perform a hair analysis on a student stating density, texture, porosity, elasticity, and any abnormal conditions. 3. Perform "on-base" roller curls on mannequin. as demonstrated. 6. Perform "over-directed" roller curls on mannequin, as demonstrated. 7. Identify the literacy and numeracy of this lesson. Participate in review for nine week exam by responding individually and chorally to review questions. 2. Comply with State Board and Program Policies by passing uniform, kit, and materials evaluations with100% accuracy. 3. Respond to notebook evaluation by being in compliance to Program Policy with 70% accuracy. 4. Complete time sheets and State Board hours as required. 5. Complete nine week written exam with 70% accuracy. 6. Complete all unfinished class and lab work for nine week period. 7. PERFORMANCE OBJECTIVE: The student will demonstrate his/her ability to: 1. Perform a uniform hairshaping on the mannequin; using the following materials and supplies: Mannequin, water bottle, towel, shears, comb and clamps. INSTRUCTIONAL ACTIVITIES: Discussion, questions and answers, demonstration. 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. 7. Review techniques (elevation, hand and hair angles, sectioning) for a uniform hairshaping. Discuss results of previous hairshapings, and show relationship to present performance. Discuss reason for, and uniform hairshaping. Review safety and sanitary precautions used in hairshaping. Demonstrate hairshaping. Have students execute uniform layered hairshaping using required materials and supplies.

COMPETENCY: Permanent Waving (spiral perm wrap). PERFORMANCE OBJECTIVE: Student will demonstrate his/her ability to: Perform a spiral perm wrap given a mannequin, duckbill clips, rattail comb, water bottle, end wraps, perm rods, and plastic clips, as demonstrated. INSTRUCTIONAL ACTIVITIES: Demonstration, discussion, question and answers. 1. Discuss the value of being able to perform this perm wrap as a service for clients with long hair. 2. Demonstrate sectioning (various sectioning). 3. Demonstrate subsectioning and angle of hair (diameter of rod) (bases). 4. Demonstrate winding of hair on rod (use of endwrap). 5. Demonstrate rod placement. 6. Demonstrate securing rods. 7. Discuss options and outcomes with varying rod sizes.
