Crocodile Foundation Donates US$300 K for COM Building

T
Crocodile is the brainchild of Dato Dr Tan Hien Tsin since 1947. As an indomitable pioneer in mens fashion then, it soon made its presence felt across the regions starting from Singapore to South East Asian countries, Hong Kong and Japan by the early 1980s. It evolved to become a lifestlye brand providing a total wardrobe solution to the family of modern days.

he Crocodile Foundation during its Board of Directors meeting on January 8, 2014 finally approved to fulfil its pledge of US$300,000 for the COM building project. It took a few years for them to redeem their pledge since their main requirement is for the Southern Asia Pacific Division and the Union to match their donation which was finally complied with. The Crocodile Foundation is the charitable arm of the Crocodile Group of Companies based in Singapore which has helped a lot of institutions and individuals all over the world. The Crocodile Group has its presence in 24 countries with over 110 product lines and 2000 exclusive stores and galleries.

AUP receives CHED official communication about COM deficiencies

when they visit AUP campus. Seeking further inquiries on the delayed visit, the administrators visited the CHED on December 18, 2013. A follow up visit was made on January 6, 2014 to submit all the documents. With all the documents submitted, the AUP family hopes

and prays that the Technical Committee for Medical Education visit will push through this first quarter of the year and that they will give their final approval for the opening of the Doctor of Medicine program in June 2014.

After a few months of waiting, AUP finally received an official communication from the CHED 2nd week of December 2013 about the COM deficiencies. These deficiencies include among others the curriculum and the building. But according to the University administrators, the supposed deficiencies are all complied with except for the completed building. However, due to some valid reasons, AUP chose not to submit some documents and instead notified the CHED that the Technical Committee will see the documents

AUP National Alumni Association Donates 1.5 million to COM

In support to the COM building project, the AUP Philippine National Alumni Association through its officers under the leadership of interim president, Mrs. Marilyn P. Mutuc, approved to donate 1.5 million pesos. Of the donation, about half a million pesos comes from the income of the very successful First International PUC-AUP Alumni Convention (FIPAAC) which was held in Tagaytay City last April 2013. The FIPAAC was planned and executed during the incumbency of Pastor Jose Orbe Jr. The National Alumni Association fully supports the capital projects of AUP as the association previously donated 1.2 million pesos for the construction of the Pioneer building currently occupied by the College of Arts and Humanities.

AMC BACOLOD AND SPUC PLEDGE SUPPORT TO COM

The Adventist Medical Center - Bacolod through Dr. Hector Gayares Jr and South Philippine Union Conference through Pastor Leonardo Asoy have pledged financial support of Php 100,000 each for the College of Medicine building project. The Php 200K full donation is redeemable early 2014.

Blessed are those who can give without remembering, and take without forgetting.
- Princess Elizabeth, Asquith Bibesco

I had a professor in seminary who told us one day that there were four stages of giving, which he then proceeded to illustrate. The first stage is like a man who stands up in church and says, Hey, everybody, look! Im putting a hundred dollar bill in the offering! The second stage is when the same man puts the hundred dollar bill in the offering but does not announce the fact. However, he makes it convenient somehow for someone to find out. The third stage is when he puts the hundred dollar bill in the offering and neither makes the announcement nor makes it convenient that someone find out. But he feels so righteous. With that the seminary professor changed the subject and started talking about something else. One of the students interrupted him, saying, Now wait a minute, didnt you say that there were four stages of giving? That s right, the professor replied, Well then, whats the fourth stage? Who knows? the teacher replied. BY LEX S. MATHEWS

Qualified and committed faculty is vital to the success of the College of Medicine program. However, enlisting the services of medical doctors to teach in our COM is very challenging. The good news is, even with this great challenge of finding medical doctors to teach, Dr. Dorris Mendoza and her team were able to convince many doctors to teach in our COM. The following are the names of doctors, pastors, and other practitioners who are committed to teach in the college of medicine. Volunteer doctors from the US who are willing to teach in the COM are yet to be included in the list.
