1) Fill in the blanks with 8 words from the list below (4 marks) (Self-esteem / anxious / miss / power / cope / frighten / isolation / assistance / affect) Bullying is a real threat to our children today. It involves people who use .. or strength to .. or hurt others who are weaker. It can lead teenagers to feel tense, ... and scared. It can also .. their concentration and make them ...... school in some cases. It may even lead to long-term effects including low , nightmares and social .. . The problem has become widespread even among girls. So, how can teenagers with this alarming situation ? 2) Circle the right option (4 marks) How can money be the root of evil? By asking this question, we make the assumption that money has some level of influence over the beholder, (arent / dont / havent) we? Well, if it were the case, we could safely assume that those who have the (little / less / least) amount of money would be the nicest people in the world. But to what extent is that true? My theory is that some people are inherently (mischief / cruelty / evil) with or without money, as well. Its just that money exposes (what / which / that) is actually inside the person who has it. In fact, money, in the hands of an evil person, can cause ultimate (tyranny / corruption / catastrophe) not only to the person who has malicious intent but also to the victims who suffer at their hands. There are many people who are so rich. (Despite / Yet / Although), they donate the surplus to needy charities. Was it because of the money that they became generous? I doubt it. Money is, (however / therefore / thats why) a tool, (either / both / neither) for good or evil. Place it in anyones hands and it will be like holding a mirror to their soul. 3) Put the bracketed words in the correct tense or form (4 marks) Violence in todays world in the media, in our (neighbor..) and even in our schools can make our children (feel) frightened, (safety...) and insecure. Kids are hearing about and often must cope with tough issues such as (violent..) at increasingly early ages, often before they (to be) ready (understanding) all the aspects of complicated situations. Yet there is hope, parents and others (care.) adults have a unique opportunity to talk with their children about these issues first, before everyone else (to do).
