Dr.

Hayes Wicker, Senior Pastor

Something for the Whole Family
Many of us remember when television was particularly known for its variety shows, often advertising something for the whole family. I grew up watching The Ed Sullivan Show and was often forced to endure The Lawrence Welk Show by my big-band-loving parents. Baby-boomers remember comedians who hosted shows such as Carol Burnette and Rowan and Martin. Even people like Tony Orlando, Glen Campbell, and other singers had their variety platforms. Ah, a bygone era! Ministry for Christ is serious business. While we focus on Him, we are privileged to offer an unusual variety of growth opportunities for youth and adults this weekend, as DiscipleNow challenges our students to defend their faith. Sean McDowell will not only be speaking to them, but also preaching in our Saturday evening service. He connects with students and adults in a tangible way through humor, stories, and the utilization of hard evidence and logic to present the Christian worldview. He leads the Bible Department of Capistrano Valley Christian Schools, and received the Educator of the Year award for his city in California. He is also considered one of the top apologists for the faith in the nation. He has appeared on numerous radio programs with Focus on the Family, Point of View, as well as programs hosted by Michael Reagan and others. He is the author and co-author of numerous books with his dad, Josh. Chip Ingram, one of our favorite speakers, will preach on Sunday morning and lead a unique seminar about discovering Gods blueprint for the home on Sunday evening. He reaches over a million people a week through radio, TV, internet, and other means. He has a unique ability to practically relate the Christian message to the home, love, sex, money, and painful circumstances. The author of 14 books, he is Senior Pastor of Venture Christian Church in Los Gatos, California (in the Bay area) and is President of Living on the Edge. He also served formerly as President of Walk Thru the Bible. Whether he is speaking on love, parenting, or marriage, you will be greatly impacted by this gentleman who is a special friend to our church. Our TV viewing habits have changed as has our vocabulary, including terms such as binge viewing. This involves watching episode after episode, day after day, eating whole chunks of entertainment often in a week. It has been enhanced by the rise of Netflix, Amazon Prime, Hulu, and so forth. It reminds me too much of overeating chocolate ice cream. However, setting aside this weekend to seek the Lord will not be a binge, but the blessing of spiritual saturation. Dont you need some variety in your life? Daniel even spent three weeks in prevailing prayer during a time of special need (Daniel 10:2). Like him may we have a word revealed to us and gain understanding (Daniel 10:1).

Sanctity of Human Life Weekend Pregnancy Resource Center

In the Missions Kiosk this weekend

Volunteers Needed

It has been 41 years since the legalization of abortion in the United States. Since Roe vs. Wade, approximately 60 million elective abortions have been performed in our country. Gods standard is clear...every life has been created in His image and has value and purpose. He can heal what is broken and restore what is lost. Sanctity of Human Life Weekend is a weekend to acknowledge the value God has placed upon all mankind and to remember that there is much work to be done. Pregnancy Resource Center exists to promote the inherent value of every unborn child and mother. We are the hands and feet of Jesus to hurting women facing a crisis pregnancy. For details on how you can partner with us, stop by the Missions Kiosk this weekend, or go to supportprc.org.

Sunday morning worship services - SPIRITUAL SIMPLICITY (Sermon Title: All You Need is Love). The key to simplifying life, Chip Ingram says, is to make sure love is your #1 priority. Love redirects our focus and unravels the complex, overextended lifestyle that keeps us ever running but never arriving. Join Chip as he shares All You Need is Love from his book Spiritual Simplicity: Doing Less, Loving More and learn how to change love from a noun to a verb. Sunday evening seminar (5:30-7:30 in the Worship Center) - HOUSE OR HOME (Sermon Title: Gods Blueprint for a Great Family). Its no secret that the family is in trouble in America. The foundational building block of society is crumbling before our eyes. We know Christians are not exempt. There is hope. Despite the mounting pressure on couples, you really can have a great marriage, raise godly kids, and experience a healthy, life-giving home with the stability to weather lifes storms. Chip will challenge the status quo and give clear, compelling help for couples who long for unity and fulfillment in their marriage and offer timeless truths about Gods blueprint for parenting. FBA had three varsity football players honored with all-state selections by The Associated Press. The Lions led the way with two of the areas five total firstteam recipients. Juniors Zach Williams and Seth Penner both received top billing in the Class 2A division. Williams, a 510, 190 pound linebacker, led the Lions with 70 tackles (18 for a loss) to go with his seven sacks. Penner anchored an offensive line that cleared the way for FBA to amass 2,175 yards rushing this season. Christian Rodriguez gained 994 of those yards, and he was rewarded with a second-team selection. (The teams were chosen based on voting by reporters and editors of the states newspapers.)
