Tour to Leh & Monasteries Around Leh

This tour will take you to Leh to visit some very famous & old monasteries in Ladakh region. It will provide you an opportunity to visit monasteries and experience the local culture & life style of rural people.

Highest Altitude gained: Khardung La 5600 m Period: Mid June to Late September Detailed Program : Day 1: Arrive Leh On arrival at Leh airport, our representative will meet you at the airport and transfer to hotel. Complete day for the acclimitization . In the evening short work around the Leh bazar Overnight at hotel. Day 2: Leh Monasteries (90 kms) Full day excursion to Ladakh famous monasteries, it is interesting to visit early in the morning to enjoy the praying ceremony at Thiksey monastery. Continue drive to Hemis monastery which is one of the most famous monastery of the Ladakh region.. On the way back visit Shey Palace. Overnight at hotel. Day 3 : Leh Monasteries (40 kms) Morning half day tour of Spituk and visit Phyang Monastery. Afternoon visit by foot to Kings Palace, Leh Mosque, Leh Gompa, Shankar Gompa and Leh Bazar. Overnight at hotel . Day 4: Leh Khardongla Pass Leh (85 kms) Day excursion to Khardongla pass which is the highest motorable pass in the world at 5600 m and has been recorded in the Guinness Book of World Records. At the top enjoy the nature beauty of snow capped mountains. In the late afternoon return back to the hotel. Overnight at hotel. Day 5: Leh Alchi (72 kms) Leave for Alchi monastery known as Alchi Choskor is the only monastery in the Ladakh on flat ground. On the way visit Bazgo Castle lie on the right bank of the Indus. By the lunch time we reach Alchi. Afternoon visit the Alchi monastery and explore the natural beauty of Alchi village. Overnight at hotel/Guest House. Day 6 : Alchi Lamayuru Leh (168 kms) Leave Alchi and continue drive to Lamayuru via Khaltsi (passport checking point). From here another 22 kms drive will take us to Lamayuru. The oldest and spectacularly set Lamayuru monastery founded in the 10th Century. Visit the monastery. In the late afternoon drive back to Leh which is 4/5 hours drive. Overnight at hotel .

Day 7: Leh Stok Palace Morning half day visit to Stok Palace. The Palace was built by King Tsespal Tondup Namgyal in 1825. On the way back visit the Choglamsar village (Tibetan refugee Camp) which is famous for Tibetan Culture, History and Buddhism. Afternoon day for personal activities or visit to the Local Ladakhi family house which can be arranged on request. Overnight at hotel. Day 8: Depart Leh In time transfer to the airport to board flight for onward destination.
