In the recent years the world became much more developed than the past years; because of this development many different types of careers and many several work experiences have been established to suit the world development and to fulfill and accomplish the functions of the operating companies. However, not each single person can perform all the types of jobs and careers; because some of the careers and jobs require certain skills, abilities, talents, knowledge and qualifications. Thats why each single person should know how to choose the appropriate career that would suit his personality, skills and qualifications in order to be successful in this specific career. According to me, I wish and prefer to be an accountant as I realized that this is the best career type that I will be effective and efficient in.

My major choice and type of career

As I previously mentioned, I chose the accounting as a major to study and the career type that I would prefer and wish to undertake after graduating from Dubai Womens College with a bachelor degree in accounting. Being an accountant will offer me continues discovery of knowledge and an endless growth in my career path. I think that this major and this career type will allow me to gain a broad knowledge in the accounting and finance fields as I will have the chance to deal with different accounting practices such as; auditing, analyzing financial records, supervision and management of records and balance sheets. From my own point of view, I think that being an accountant will fulfill my personal satisfaction of knowing that my efforts could in some certain ways support the mission of the company that I will be working in. I choose to be an accountant because I mostly prefer the kind of career that will enable me to work mostly on the Spread sheets, Microsoft word and Excel while dealing with many other colleagues that could be from different departments and jobs. The accounting as a major and being an accountant in the future will allow me to gratify and accomplish all of my important personal and career goals. For example, it will satisfy my goal to obtain new knowledge, information, understanding, skills and expertise in the accounting, banking, and financing fields not only concerning the company I will be working in but the banking, accounting and financing policies regarding the UAE economy also; which in turn will let me get the right understanding to stay on improving and growing throughout my career path regularly.

The type of companies where I could work As an accountant I can work after graduating in many several companies that needs or that have an accounting section or department; and currently mostly all of the companies need at least 1 accountant member in order to keep an ay on the business budget, to analyze and to keep the financial records. I can find work as an accountant nearly in any industry; as all of the industries and organizations need an accountant to track their income, outflow, inflow and balance sheet. After graduating with an accounting bachelor degree I can work for the accounting, banking and financing firms or banks that are operating in the economic world. And as I am in Dubai I could work in several banks such as Al-Mashreq Bank, Abu Dhabi Commercial Bank, Standard Chartered Bank, Commercial Bank of Dubai, HSBC Bank and many others. And as I said I can also start working in many different companies that need an accountant to employ such as; FedEx, Al Rostamani Group, Al Tayer Group, DHL Express, Al Habtoor Group, and many others. The accountant skills

Not each and singe person can become an accountant; a number of skills and abilities should be available in the person in order to be able to be an accountant. These skills and abilities will allow him to perform the accountancy job that will be assigned to him professionally as required. Some of the skills that an accountant should have are; financial statement and forecasting analysis skills, risk assessment and management skills, should be an effective communicator in any medium, should be able to understand the financial records, team player skills, should be good in decision making, problem solving and should have PC skills especially spreadsheets. ("Skills Required to Be an Accountant," n.d.) ("Credit Officer," 2013) According to me, there are many of the required accountants skills available in me. For example, I have the skills of a good communicator as I can listen carefully and understand the other peoples point of views and at the same time I can negotiate and express my ideas and thoughts fluently while seeking and sharing information. I have the ability to understand and talk in English and Arabic. I have the ability to take decisions, solve problems, organize the risks and I can work with a limited supervision or guides because of my understanding of the financial and accounting records. I am skilled in collaborating and working with other members in groups. In addition, I am also skilled on the PC specially the spreadsheets, Excel, Microsoft Word and PowerPoint. I am also able and skilled in searching the internet through many searching engines such as internet explorer and Chrome. And most importantly I have the ability to work under stress and to take multiple tasks at the same time.

However, no one is perfect in everything and of course there are some certain skills that I need to improve in order to be a complete accountant such as my ability in trusting people. From a period of time, I found myself that I mostly tend to trust the people and the colleagues working with me quickly and send to them a specific part to be done by them at a certain time; but then I found out that the person was not the kind of person that I had to trust as he didnt complete the work and then Ill had to do all myself. Ive been working to develop and improve this certain skill in me the moment I realized that I trust people quickly and I am improving in it as I started knowing the people first before trusting them regarding the work. And because of this I also started developing, improving and building my ability to determine who to invest in and who should I trust from all the co-workers around me. And as the learning never stops, I am also trying to increase my knowledge and my skills regarding the accounting, banking and financial analysis and records in order to be professional in my work without needing anyone to guide me or supervise me. However, I am also trying to build my leadership skills from the moment I started college because these leadership skills will enable me to succeed in my work and to know how to make the other people around me follow the right path to success.
