IMS 4G

Experience For an upstart in New Jersey, Velankani took the prime responsibility for the development of a Hybrid Fiber-Wireless (HFW) networking system to support Fixed Mobile Convergence (FMC). The convergence of Fiber, Licensed and Unlicensed wireless technologies within a IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS) architectural framework created a Fourth Generation (4G) Broadband Wireless communications platform. The 4G Broadband Network platform establishes a seamless and mobile in frast ru ct u re en a b lin g voice, data, video, multimedia, and other services over a single Broadband Wireless network.

4G Broadband customers will be able to communicate seamlessly over the wide-area cellular and local area Broadband Wireless network whether they are at home, at work, or anywhere on the go. These solutions are all based on the concept of Self-Learning WirelessTM developed by our customer, which basically leverages the idea of plug and play to ensure that customers find these private Broadband Wireless networks easy to install and maintain.

IMS 4G
Velankanis Role and Responsibilities

Architecture definition: Establish the software architecture for the Hybrid Fiber-Wireless Networking (HFW) system to realize and support IMS core functions and applications. The architecture decomposed each of the IMS core components including P-CSCF, I-CSCF, S-CSCF, HSS and their integration with other components that are needed to comply with the IMS architecture as specified by 3GPP and ETSI TISPAN standard bodies. Product Requirements: Establish a Feature Matrix to list, group and prioritize product features and functions. Defined product roll out, timelines and responsibilities for the development, source, integration, test and deployment to support First Office Application capabilities and planning. Network Architecture: The Network Architecture specified the call flows, roaming, handover and interoperability with external 3rd party IMS and VoIP Terminals, Public Land Mobile Network (PLMN), Public Switched Telephone Network (PSTN) and IP Network switches, gateways and servers Feasibility Study: Identification, evaluation and selection of Open Source and Commercially available software components, environments, platforms and tools in terms of features, functions, performance, scalability, quality and cost Software development: High level and detailed design, code and unit test of the IMS core component software. System integration: This included the port and integration of the IMS core component software with 3rd party agents, databases, protocols, drivers and operating system onto a Motorolas Centellis Telecom Platform Interoperability Test: On and off site membership participation with Intels Modular Communications Platforms (MCP) Solutions Program to validate interoperability with participating IMS platform and solution providers. In addition, Velankani also conducted interoperability testing with other IMS clients, SIP phones, HSS and application servers. FOKUS Contributions: Contributed to the FOKUS Open IMS Playground test bed project by reporting and resolving defects with their Open Source IMS Core and add-on components. Also performed Gap analysis on FOKUS components and working with Intel to define product rollout based on Gap analysis
