INTRODUCTION TO PROJECT

In this advanced age of computers where everything is completely dependent on

computers. Every organization wants that it should be able to maintain the information in
a rapid and easy way. The organization can be a software development firm, a railway
department, bank, a telephone exchange or a school. Everyone wants that information
maintenance should be very easy and in a user-friendly manner.
Our project “ computerized working of mcdonalds” is a one such effort to automate a
firm, so that the administrator can maintain the information about the staff members, their
pay, general information, raw material information, marketing details in a very easily and
a manner in which he wants.
McDonald's Corporation is the world's largest chain of fast food restaurants, serving
nearly 47 million customers daily.

In addition to its signature restaurant chain, McDonald’s Corporation held a minority

interest in Pret A Manger (a UK-based sandwich retailer) until 2008, and owned the
Chipotle Mexican Grill until 2006 and the restaurant chain Boston Market until 2007. The
company has also expanded the McDonald's menu in recent decades to include alternative
meal options, such as salads and snack wraps, in order to capitalize on growing consumer
interest in health and wellness.
Each McDonald's restaurant is operated by a franchisee, an affiliate, or the corporation
itself. The corporations' revenues come from the rent, royalties and fees paid by the
franchisees,as well as sales in company-operated restaurants./McDonald's revenues grew
27% over the three years ending in 2007 to $22.8 billion, and 9% growth in operating
income to $3.9 billion.
OBJECTIVES OF PROPOSED SYSTEM

Our aim should be to design a system that can be compatible and easy to operate. That is
our system should have all the records and the files of the old system in comprehensively
linked manner so that ever we want to retrieve some information, it can be done in an
efficient manner it should be designed in such a way that if we want to set some specific
information we do not have to search all of the records like in the manual system where
we have to go to different sections to do the same.
Our system should be such that observations regarding the COMPANY can be
done one at a time and efficiently and effectively. It should be comparable, easy to use,
easy to understand and easy to modify. After that the designing of the system is also to be
done in very systematic and step-by-step approach.
There should be complete interaction between the various sub systems of the main
system so that there can be efficient functioning of the systems. Every component of the
system should be able to interact with other components through a common interface.
There be such interaction that if one component wants the other system output that it can
do freely and without any hindrances. Also all the sub-system wants some information
form the other sub-system it can do so without any problems, also when a system
functions then it doesn’t has to wait for long time to be processed.
The most critical phase of the managing system project planning is system
analysis. The goals of system analysis are to produce the system requirements of
proposed information system.

Mcdonalds goals towards cutomers:

distribution system, so that company is able to achieve consistent product taste and

part which is required in order to pay cash.

 Marketing strategies
This module explains the marketing strategy of mcdonalds for product promotion.
Marketing involves identifying customer needs and requirements, and meeting
these needs in a better way than competitors. In this way a company creates loyal
customers. The starting point is to find out who potential customers are - not
everyone will want what McDonald's has to offer. The people McDonald's
identifies as likely customers are known as key audiences.

working hours.employees are categorised as

and telephone no as a primary key to uniquely identify a record. When a customer
place an order firstly it is checked whether the he owns a membership or not.If

the membership form.

PRODUCT

This module deals with the various products being provided by mcdonalds. It provides the
food menu with price list giving details about the various flavours of a product and
available stock. Here user can add, edit, delete any information.
New products can be added according to the demand and obsolete ones can be removed
when not needed.Same product may have different sizes and flavours which vary in price
also.Information regarding the calories intake associated with a food item can also be
provided on customer demand.
The important thing to remember when offering menu items to customers is that they
have a choice. They have a huge number of ways of spending their money and places to
spend it. Therefore, McDonald's places considerable emphasis on developing a menu
which customers want. Market research establishes exactly what this is.
However, customers' requirements change over time. What is fashionable and attractive
today may be discarded tomorrow. In order to meet these changes, McDonald's has
introduced new products and phased out old ones, and will continue to do so.
Care is taken not to adversely affect the sales of one choice by introducing a new choice,
which will cannibalise sales from the existing one (trade off). McDonald's knows that
items on its menu will vary in popularity. Their ability to generate profits will vary at
different points in their life cycle.

Products go through a life cycle, which is illustrated below:

MARKETING STRATEGY AT MCDONALDS

The promotions aspect of the marketing mix covers all types of marketing
communications.
The methods include advertising, sometimes known as 'above the line' activity.
Advertising is conducted on TV, radio, cinema, online, poster sites and in the press
(newspapers, magazines).
What distinguishes advertising from other marketing communications is that media
owners are paid before the advertiser can take space in the medium. Other promotional
methods include sales promotions, point of sale display, merchandising, direct mail,
telemarketing, exhibitions, seminars, loyalty schemes, door drops, demonstrations, etc.
The skill in marketing communications is to develop a campaign which uses several of
these methods in a way that provides the most effective results. For example, TV
advertising makes people aware of a food item and press advertising provides more detail.
This may be supported by in store promotions to get people to try the product and a
collectable promotional device to encourage them to keep buying the item. It is
imperative that the messages communicated support each other and do not confuse
customers. A thorough understanding of what the brand represents is the key to a
consistent message.
The purpose of most marketing communications is to move the target audience to some
type of action. This may be to: buy the product, visit a restaurant, recommend the choice
to a friend or increase purchase of the menu item.
Focus on the mothers:
To help revive the company’s sales and profits, McDonald’s shifted its strategy toward
women from one of “minority” consumers who served as a conduct to the important
children’s market to one in which women are the company’s majority consumers and the
main drivers behind menu and promotion innovations.

The punch lines such as:

I M LOVING IT
WE LOVE TO SEE YOU SMILE
Have contributed a lot in increasing the sales of McDonald’s to a great extend

New offers and events at McDonald’s:

As part of the new Happy Meal programme, McDonald’s India will provide an option of
substituting aerated beverages (Coke) with a small McShake for an additional Rs. 8. The
company has recently begun offering an affordable menu called the ‘Happy Price Menu’,
whereby McDonald’s products suchy as the McAloo Tikki, Chicken McGrill, Pizza
McPuff and Softserve small (hot fudge and strawberry) will all be priced at Rs. 20 each,
all inclusive of taxes.
To support its new marketing activities McDonald’s India is planning to launch new
TVCs to show that any small excuse is a good enough reason to come to McDonald’s. For
this purpose, McDonald’s India is planning to invest around Rs. 4 crore. Apart from that
their special offers in the form of meals all under the main promotional strategies of
McDonalds
Special gifts for the kids:
McDonald’s was the first time in India to start the trend of giving free balloons to every
kid visiting its outlet. It further built upon the idea by brining out various animation
characters gift pack (including Pokemon series and tazoo series) under the “HAPPY
MEALS”.

Free Home Delivery:

McDonald’s India is one of the few countries that provide a home delivery service. In
Western India, this service is currently available at select localities. However, we do plan
to extend this service to all restaurants.

The main motive of promotional tools is to communicate and promote the product to the
target market.
The various other promotional tools are –
Advertising
Sales Promotion
Public Relation
Key objectives of advertising are to make people aware of an item, feel positive about it
and remember it. The more McDonald's knows about the people it is serving the more it
is able to communicate messages which appeal to them.
Messages should gain customers' attention and keep their interest. The next stage is to get
them to want what is offered. Showing the benefits which they will obtain by taking
action, is usually sufficient. The right messages must be targeted at the right audience,
using the right media.

For example, to reach a single professional woman with income above a certain level, it
may be better to take an advertisement in Cosmopolitan than Woman's Own. To advertise
to mothers with children, it may be more effective to take advertising space in cinemas
during Disney films. The right media depends on who the viewers, readers or listeners are
and how closely they resemble the target audience.

EMPLOYEES

This module keeps a record of all the employees with their complete biodata and working
hours. It includes name, address, designation, date of joining, salary etc of an
employee. When new employees are recruited in the firm database is updated issuing a
unique employ id to the employ.Delete or edit operations can be performed when an
employee leaves the firm or any of his attributes changes.

Employees can be categorised as:

Team Leader-team leader who leads and give order and work to all managers

Crew Chief- crew chief who leads all frontline employees and distribute their duty and set
time schedule of them.

Floor Manager -'Floor management' includes managing staff who give services to
customers and allocate the duties of opening and closing restaurant. The manager is
responsible for making sure his or her staff is following the service standards and health
and safety regulations. The manager is the most important person in the front-of-the-
house environment, since it is up to him or her to motivate the staff and give them job
satisfaction. The manager also looks after and guides the personal well-being of the staff,
since it makes the work force stronger and more profitable.

Kitchen Manager-'Kitchen management' includes the managing staff working in the

kitchen. The kitchen is the most important part of the business and the main reason
customers patronize the restaurant. Managing the kitchen staff helps to control food
quality. As most commercial kitchens are a closed environment, the staff may become
bored or tired from the work. Without proper management, this often results in an
inconsistent food product

Restaurant Manager- restaurant manager who is the head of floor manager, kitchen
manager, crew chief and also employees.
Activity of McDonald’s Employees/ works
Frontline Employee-In McDonald’s there are 4 counters and frontline employees operate
that counters and deal with customers and the end of the day they count per product sale
