Background of the Study

All o!er the world the dimension of Ban"ing has been changing rapidl due to *eregulation+ Technological inno!ation and ,lobalization. Ban"ing in Bangladesh has "eep pace with the global change. -ow Ban"s must compete in the mar"et place both with local institution as well as foreign ounces. To sur!i!e and thri!e in such a competiti!e ban"ing world+ two important requirements are *e!elopment of appropriate financial infrastructure b the central Ban" and *e!elopment of $professionalism' in the sense of de!eloping an appropriate manpower structure and its e.pertise and e.perience. To introduce s"illed Ban"er+ onl theoretical "nowledge in the field of ban"ing studies is not sufficient. An academic course of the stud has a great !alue when it has practical application in real life situation. /o+ I need proper application of m "nowledge to get some benefit from m theoretical "nowledge ma"e it more tactful. 0hen I engage m self in such fields to ma"e proper use of m theoretical "nowledge in m practical life situation. /uch theoretical "nowledge is obtained from a course of stud at onl the half wa of the sub1ect matter. Internship implies on other the full application of the methods and procedures implies on the other full application of the methods 2

and procedures through rich acquire of sub1ect matter can be forcefull applied in m da #to# da life situation. /uch a procedure of practical application is "nown as Internship.

Evolution of Bank The modern ban"ing s stem is an e!olutionar growth right from the (iddle Ages. The genesis of modern ban" la in the functions performed b the (erchant with wide reputation commanding confidence far and near could easil finance domestic and foreign trade. The famous merchant houses established branches to trade centers at home and abroad began to use credit de!ises to accommodate their customers 8agath /eth+ for e.ample+ had his branch office in &ondon in the 29th centur . :!en earlier the indigenous hounds+ which finance domestic trade in India was the inno!ations of the local merchants. In this credit operation in these credit operations in the ancient merchant houses la the germs for the de!elopment of the important credit instrument latel "nown as bill of e.change and these merchants were !irtuall forerunner of the modern e.change ban"s. The second ancestor of ban"s was the mone lender.
