To Whom This May Concern: In advance I would like to thank you, personally and sincerely. If it was not for you, then for whom? I write because I believe I have something say. Whether it s good or bad you get to decide, but that is the beauty of this new way of thinking, creating, living that we nd ourselves apart of. In a world where everything is instant, our most valuable asset becomes our time. Time allows us to grow as individuals within this chaotic system known as society. If you put time into something, that shows you have faith, believe in a project or better yet are open to different perspectives. You taking the time to jump into my imagination is something I am forever grateful for. To everyone who helped me to this moment, I appreciate everything you did, the next round is on me. JED MICHAELS (CONTD) Again, sorry. DR. LAKOM(CONTD) Right, now that Mr. Michaels has decided to join us, I will let you get back to your story. The man to Jeds left sits straight up in his chair. PATIENT 2 Right. So like I was saying, in my early 30s I really started to dabble with cocaine. I mean, Ive done cocaine before, but my 30s were a time where I needed cocaine like a good hooker. Those 20 minutes were heaven and I didnt care how much I needed to pay for it. That was a high that Id get and nothing was gonna stop me.It was bad--but damn so good. Of course, I lost a lot of money. Not only my own, but my families and friends. He chuckles. PATIENT 2(CONTD) I remember I used to make up fake sales pitches to get my friends to invest in small companies that werent real. I guess it kind of was a Ponzi scheme in the long run. Hey look at that! I was a criminal! Well, not a street criminal, but a real, corporate criminal! DR. LAKOM So, let me ask you: you did damage to the people in your life? Would you go back in time and change what you did? PATIENT 2 Nope. No, no way. I am not proud of who I was, but I think and feel that people go through tough times in order to get them to where they need to be. The universe works in mysterious ways and I aint one to question that.

PATIENT 3(O.S) Amen to that. PATIENT 2 Before I used cocaine, I didnt know or understand how important life was. But now, when I look back on those times, it reminds me of the richness. Even though my life brought me here, the universe still brought me here! Jed leans in and really concentrates on what he is saying. DR. LAKOM Can you elaborate? PATIENT 2 Alright, so look at it like this; people in their lives have ups and downs, and we learn from our mistakes and from our experiences. When I was using cocaine, that was a chapter in my life that happened and led to this chapters beginning. Its important to learn from your past. DR. LAKOM Do you not feel that you brought pain and suffering to your friends and family? PATIENT 2 I brought them life lessons. She gestures to him to elaborate. PATIENT 2(CONTD) My family and friends gave me money, and when they found out what I have done, they learned. I was a challenge for them in life, they learned from me. I put them in tough situations and made them make tough decisions about pretty much everything. That set them up for the rest of their lives. Hell, they made the decision to arrest me! You know what type of will power that it takes to do something like that to someone you love?

DR. LAKOM All too well. She glances over to Jed who is invested in the conversation. PATIENT 2 You know? Its important to build, build your character off of the good and bad times. That defines who you are. I mean who you really truly are. DR. LAKOM Thank you. You see, this point in your lives, this is a new chapter. We dont have to fall back into the situations you were in, but we can use the old ones to build a new beginning. All of us have many different experiences and those will define who we are. Jed puts his head down and nods in agreement. DR. LAKOM(CONTD) You see, we all make honest mistakes; we just have to learn how to build off of them. Sometimes even life will hand you a second chance and still you push it away. Just remember, though, that everything that happens does so for a reason. Anyone like to comment? She looks over at the new girl who shakes her head, while Jed raises his head. JED MICHAELS Sure. Jed stands up. JED MICHAELS (CONTD) Hi, my name is Jed, Jed Michaels. For people that dont know me, I used to be an actor on a television show called A Day Away. GIRL PATIENT I loved that show. Jed smiles at her.
