Choose a Fortune 100 company and research their diversity initiatives posted on their website (may be under community

efforts, community relations, social responsibility, etc.). Next, review their win terms of their diversity. Critically evaluate their diversity program what do they do well and what could they do differently?

Going through Wal-Marts diversity program they have really improved over the last 9 years. Out of all Wal-Mart officers 27.5% are women at Wal-Mart compared to 14.3% at other fortune 500. Wal-Mart board of directors consists of 23.5% women and in the Wal-Mart workforce 57.2% are woman. Comparing them to other retail stores and fortune 500s, Wal-Mart beats them in most categories. Also Wal-Marts women employees are very diverse in the latam region 45% are from Argentina 54% are from Brazil and Chile and 51% are from Mexico and Central America. In the emea region 65% are from Canada, 42% are from South Africa and 58% from United Kingdom. In the Asia region 65% are from China, 20 % from India, and 69% from Japan. Also there have been increases in market managers in Wal-Mart they had a 92% increase in women and 61 percent increase in people of color. In store managers they had a 42% increase in women and 32% increase in people of color. They also had an increase in co-managers 134% in women and 125% in people of color. Beginning Memorial Day 2013, Wal-Mart committed to offering a job to any honorably discharged U.S. veteran within his or her first 12 months off active duty. Wal-Mart projects hiring more than 100,000 U.S. veterans over the next 5 years. Wal-Marts associate resource groups consist of associates for disability awareness and education, Asian pacific associates network, Hispanic Latino associate resource group, LGT and Straight ally, African American associate resource group, American Indian & Alaska native associate resource group, and womens resource council. Wal-Mart has 2 female ceos. Wal-Mart also offers a lifelong learning program to make college more affordable and more accessible for associates and their family members. They also have mentoring programs that are offered. Wal-Mart also has cultural programs. It seems like Wal-Mart is focusing more on employing females in the work place than anything else. They should place the same effort in having a more diverse culture at their store. They also seem to have a good family program and education programs. Out of Wal-Marts 14 board of directors 3 of them are women and also about 3 or 4 of the people are of minorities. So whatever they are promoting in there diversity report correlates with their board of directors. Although I believe they could still use more people of different ethnicities. Wal-Mart has shown huge signs of improvement in the last year in diversity if they keep it going I think they will stay as one of the highest and most diverse fortune 100 companies.
