Words of remembrance for Morning and Evening

All Praise is due to Allah alone, peace and blessings be upon him after whom there is no other Prohpet.99 76. A uthu billaahi minash shaitaanir ra!eem. Allaahu laa ilaaha illa "uwal "a##ul $a##oom, laa ta %hu&thuhu sinatun wa laa nawm, lahu maa fis& samaawaati wa maa fil ardh, man thal lathi #ashfa u indahu illa bi ithnihi, #a lamu maa baina aideehim wa maa %halfahum, wa laa #uheetoona bisha# im min ilmihi illa bimaa shaa a, wasi a %ursi##uhus samaa&waati wal ardh, wa laa #a ooduhu hifdhuhumaa, wa "uwal Ali##ul& Adheem.

I seek refuge in Allah from Satan the outcast. Allah! There is none worthy of worship but He, the Ever iving, the !ne "ho sustains an# protect all that e$ists. %either slumber nor sleep overtakes Him. To Him belongs whatever is in the heavens an# whatever is on the earth. "ho is he that can interce#e with Him e$cept with His permission& He knows what happens to them in this worl#, an# what will happen to them in the Hereafter. An# they will never encompass anything of His knowle#ge e$cept that which He wills. His Throne e$ten#s over the heavens an# the earth, an# He feels no fatigue in guar#ing an# preserving them. An# He is the 'ost High, the 'ost (reat.'((
99 Anas )*adiallahu Anhu+ said that he heard the Prohpet ),allallahu Ala#hi Wasallam+ sa#- ./hat 0

sit with people remembering Almight# Allah from the morning ) Fajr+ pra#er until sunrise is more beloved to me than freeing four slaves from among the children of 0sma il. /hat 0 sit with people remembering Allah frm the afternoon )Asr+ pra#er until the sun sets its more beloeved to me than freeing four slaves from among the children of 0sma il. /his was reported b# Abu 1awud )no. 2667+. Al&Albani graded it good in Sahih Abu Dawud 34695. '(( .Whoever sa#s this when he rises in the morning will be protected from !inns until he retires in the evening, and whoever sa#s it in the evening will be protected from them until he rises in the morning.. 0t was reported b# Al&"a%im '4663, Al&Albani graded it as authentic in Sahih At-Targhib Wa Tarhib '4372, and traces it to An&7asa i and At&/abarani. "e sa#s that At&/abarani s chain of transmission is reliable )8a##id ).

77. 9ismillaahir&*ahmaanir&*aheem. $ul "uwallaahu Ahad. Allaahus& ,amad. :am #alid wa lam #oolad. Wa lam #a%ullahu %ufuwan Ahad.
Say* +He is Allah ,the) !ne. The Self-Sufficent 'aster, "hom all creatures nee#, He begets not nor was He begotten, an# e.ual to Him is not anyone.+

9ismillaahir&*ahmaanir&*aheem. $ul a udhu birabbil fala;. Min sharri ma %hala;. Wa min sharri ghaasi;in itha wa;ab. Wa min sharrin naffaathaati fil& u;ad. Wa min sharri haasidin idha hasad.
Say* +I seek refuge with ,Allah) the or# of the #aybreak, from the evil of what He has create#, an# from the evil of the #arkening ,night) as it comes with its #arkness, an# from the evil of those who practice witchcraft when they blow in the knots, an# from the evil of the envier when he envies.+

manking, from the evil of the whisperer who with#raws, "ho whispers in the breasts of mankin#, of 0inn an# men.+ ,*ecite these three times each in Arabic.)'('
'(' Whoever recites these three times in the morning and in the evening, the# will suffice him )as a

protection+ against ever#thing. /he "adith was reported b# Abu 1awud 2433, and At&/irmithi 64667. ,ee Al&Albani s ,ahih At&/irmithi 24'53).

75. Asbahnaa wa asbahal&mul%u lilaahi wal&hamdu lillaahi, laa ilaaha illallahu wahdahu laa sharee%a lahu, lahul&mul%u wa lahul&hamdu wa "uwa alaa %ulli sha# in $adeer. *abbi as alu%a %haira ma fee haathal&#awmi wa %haira maa ba dahu wa a uthu bi%a min sharri maa fee haathal&#awmi wa sharri maa ba dahu, *abbi a uthu bi%a minal&%asali, wa soo il&%ibari, *abbi a uthu bi%a min athaabin fin&naari wa athaabin fil&;abri.
"e have entere# a new #ay'(3 an# with it all #ominion is Allah1s. 2raise is to Allah. %one has the right to be worshippe# but Allah alone, "ho has no partner. To Allah belongs the #ominion, an# to Him is the praise an# He is Able to #o all things. 'y or#, I ask you for the goo#ness of this #ay an# of the #ays that come after it, an# I seek refuge in 3ou from the evil of this #ay an# of the #ays that come after it.'(2 'y or#, I seek refuge in 3ou from la4iness an# helpless ol# age. 'y or#, I seek refuge in 3ou from the punishment of Hell-fire, an# from the punishment of the grave.'(<
'(3 When #ou sa# this in the evening #ou should sa# Amsaina wa'amsyal-mulku lillah- .We have

ended another da# and with it all dominion is Allah s. '(2 When #ou sa# this in the evening #ou should sa#- Rabbi as'aluka khaira ma fi haadhihil lailati, wa khaira ma ba'daha, wa a'udhu bika min sharri ma fee haadhihil lailati wa sharri ma ba'daha - .0 as% =ou for the good things of this night and of the nights that come after it and 0 see% refuge in =ou from the evil of this night and of the nights that come after it. 79. Allaahumma bi%a asbahnaa, wa bi%a amsainaa, wa bi%a nah#aa, wa bi%a namootu wa ilai%an&nushoor.
!h Allah, by 3ou we enter the morning an# by 3ou we enter the evening,'(6 by 3ou we live an# by 3ou we #ie, an# unto 3ou is the 5inal 6eturn.'(6
'(6 When #ou sa# this in the evening #ou should sa#- Allaahumma amsainaa bika wa bika asbahna,

wa bika nahyaa, wa namoot, wa ilaikal-maseer- .>h Allah, =ou bring us the end of the da# as =ou bring us its beginning, =ou bring us life and #ou bring us death, and unto =ou is our fate.. '(6 At&/irmithi 24'<3.

5(. Allaahumma Anta *abbee laa ilaaha illa Anta, %hala;tanee wa anaa abdu%a, wa ana alaa ahdi%a wa wa di%a mastata tu, a uthu bi%a min sharri ma sana tu, aboo u la%a bini mati%a ala##a, wa aboo u bithanbee faghfir lee fa&innahu laa #aghfiruth&thunooba illa Anta.
!h Allah, 3ou are my or#, there is none worthy of worship but 3ou. 3ou create# me an# I am your slave. I keep 3our covenant, an# my ple#ge to 3ou so far as I am able. I seek refuge in 3ou from the evil of what I have #one. I a#mit to 3our blessins upon me, an# I a#mit to my mis#ee#s. 5orgive me, for there is none who may forgive sins but 3ou.'(7
'(7 .Whoever recites this with conviction in the evening and dies during that night shall enter

Paradise, and whoever recites it with conviction in the morning and dies during that da# shall enter Paradise,. Al&9u%hari 74'6(. >ther reports are in An&7asa i and At&/irmithi.

5'. Allaahumma innee asbahtu ush&hi&du%a wa ush&hidu hamalata arshi%a, wa malaa i%ata%a wa !amee a %hal&;i%a, anna%a Antallaau laa ilaaha illa Anta wahda%a laa sharee%a la%a, wa anna Muhammadan abdu%a wa *asoolu%a.
!h Allah, I have entere# a new morning'(5 an# call upon 3ou an# upon the bearers of 3our Throne, upon 3our angels an# all creation to bear witness that surely 3ou are Allah, there is none worthy of worship but 3ou alone, 3ou have no partners, an# that 'uhamma# is 3our slave an# 3our 'essenger. ,*ecite four times in Arabic.)'(9

53. Allaahumma maa asbaha bee min ni matin aw bi&ahadin min %hal;i%a famin%a wahda%a laa sharee%a la%a, fala%al&hamdu wa la%ash&shu%ru.
!h Allah, whatever blessing has been receive# by me or anyone of 3our creation''( is from 3ou alone, 3ou have no partner. All praise is to 3ou an# thanks is to 3ou.'''

52. Allaahumma aafinee fee badanee, Allaahumma aafinee fee sam ee, Allaahumma aafinee fee basaree, laa ilaaha illa Anta. Allaahumma inne a uthu bi%a minal&%ufri, wal&fa;ri, wa a uthu bi%a min athaabil&;abri, laa ilaaha illa Anta.
!h Allah, make me healthy in my bo#y. !h Allah, preserve for me my hearing. !h Allah, preserve for me my sight. There is none worthy of worship but 3ou. !h Allah, I seek refuge in 3ou from #isbelief an# poverty an# I seek refuge in 3ou from the punishment of the grave. There is none worthy of worship but 3ou. ,*ecite three times in Arabic.)''3

5<. "asbi#allaahu laa ilaaha illa "uwa alaihi tawa%%altu wa "uwa *abbul& Arshil& Adheem.
Allah is sufficent for me. There is none worthy of "orship but Him. I have place# my trust in Him, He is or# of the 'a0estic Throne. ,*ecite seven times in Arabic.)''2

56. Allaahumma innee as alu%al& afwa wal& aafi#ata fid&dun#a wal&aa%hirati, Allaahumma innee as alu%al& afwa wal& aafi#ata- Bee deenee wa dun#a#aa wa ahlee, wa maalee, Allaahum&mastur auraatee, wa aamin rau aatee, Allaahum&mahfadhni min baini #ada##a, wa min %halfee, wa an #ameenee, wa an shimaalee, wa min faw;ee, wa a uthu bi adhamati%a an ughtaala min

tahtee.
!h Allah, I seek 3our forgiveness an# 3our protection in this worl# an# the ne$t. !h Allah, I seek 3our forgiveness an# 3our protection in my religion, in my wor#ly affairs, in my family an# in my wealth. !h Allah, conceal my secrets an# preserve me from anguish. !h Allah, guar# me from what is in front of me an# behin# me, from my left, an# from my right, an# from above me. I seek refuge in 3our (reatness from being struck #own from beneath me.''<

56. Allaahumma Aalimal&ghaibi wash&shahaadati faatiras&samaa&waati wal& ardhi, *abba %ulli shai in wa malee%ahu, ash&hadu allaa ilaaha illa Anta, a uthu bi%a min sharri nafsee, wa min sharrish&shaitaani wa shir%ihi, wa an a;tarifa alaa nafsee soo an, aw a!urrahu ilaa Muslimin.
!h Allah, /nower of the unseen an# the evi#ent, 'aker of the heavens an# the earth, or# of everything an# its 2ossesser, I bear witness that there is none worthy of worship but 3ou. I seek refuge in you from the evil of my soul an# from the evil of Satan an# his helpers. ,I seek refuge in 3ou) from bringing evil upon my soul an# from harming any 'uslim.''6

57. 9ismillaahil&lathee laa #adhurru ma ashmihi shai un fil&ardhi wa laa fis& samaa i wa "uwas&,amee ul& Aleem.
In the name of Allah, "ho whith His %ame nothing can cause harm in the earth nor in the heavens, an# He is the All-Hearing, the All-/nowing. ,*ecite three times in Arabic.)'

55. *adheetu billaahi *abban, wa bil&0slaami deenan, wa bi Muhammadin )sallallahu alaihi wa sallam+ 7abi##an.
I am please# with Allah as 'y or#, with Islam as my religion an# with 'uhamma# as my 2rophet. ,*ecite three times in Arabic.)''7

59. =aa "a##u #aa $a##oomu bi&rahmati%a astagheethu aslih lee sha nee %ullahu wa laa ta%ilnee ilaa nafsee tarfata ainin.
!h Ever iving !ne, !h Eternal !ne, by 3our mercy I call on 3ou to set right all my affairs. 7o not place me in charge of my soul even for the blinking of an eye ,i.e. a moment).''5

9(. Asbahnaa wa asbahal&mul%u lilaahi *abbil& aalameen, Allaahumma inne as alu%a %haira haathal&#awmi- Bat&hahu wa nasrahu wa noorahu, wa bara%atahu, wa hudaahu, wa authu bi%a min sharri maa feehi wa sharri ma ba dahu.

"e have entere# a new #ay an# with it all the #ominion which belongs to Allah, or# of all that e$ists. !h Allah, I ask 3ou for the goo#ness of this #ay, ''9 its victory, its help, its light, its blessings an# its gui#ance. I seek refuge in 3ou from the evil that is in it an# from the evil that follows it.'3(

9'. Asbahnaa alaa fitratil&0slaami wa alaa %alimatil&i%hlaasi, wa alaa deeni 7abi##inaa Muhammadin )sallallahu ala#hi wa sallam+, wa alaa millati abeena 0braaheema, haneefan Musliman wa maa %aana minal&mushri%een.
"e have entere# a new #ay'3' upon the natural religion of Islam, the wor# of sincere #evotion, the religion of our 2rophet 'uhamma#, an# the faith of our father Ibrahim. He was upright ,in worshipping Allah), an# a 'uslim. He was not of those who worship others besi#es Allah.'33

93. ,ubhaan Allaahi wa bihamdihi.

92 :aa ilaaha illallaahu wahdahu laa sharee%a lahu, lahul&mul%u wa lahul& hamdu, wa "uwa alaa %ulli sha# in $adeer.
%one has the right to be worshippe# but Allah alone, "ho has no partner. His is the #ominion an# His is the praise an# He is Able to #o all things. ,*ecite ten times'3< in Arabic or one time to ward off la?iness.)'36

9<. :aa ilaaha illallaahu wahdahu laa sharee%a lahu, lahul&mul%u wa lahul& hamdu, wa "uwa alaa %ulli sha# in $adeer.
%one has the right to be worshippe# but Allah alone, "ho has no partner. His is the #ominion an# His is the praise an# He is Able to #o all things. ,*ecite one hundred times in Arabic upon rising in the morning.)'36
'3< .Allah will write ten "asanat )rewards+ for whoever recites this ten times in the morning, and

forgive him ten misdeeds and give him the reward of freeing ten slaves and protect him from ,atan. Whoever recites this ten times in the evening will get this same reward, As&7asa i, 'Amal Al-#awm wal-$ailah )no.3<+. 0ts chain of transmission is unfailing )Sahih+, Albani '4373. Abu "urairah )radiallahu anhu+ reports that the Prophet ),allallahu Ala#hi Wasallam+ said- .Allah will write one hundred "asanat for whoever sa#s ./here is no Dod but Allah alone, "e has no partner. /o Allah is possession of ever#thing, and to "im all praise is. "e is Eapable of all things ten times in the morning, and forgive him one hundred misdeeds. "e will have the reward of freeing a slave and will be preserved from ,atan throughout the da# unto dus%. Whoever sa#s it in the evening will have the same reward, Ahmad 547(<, '64392. 0ts chain transmisson is good )"asan+, 0bn 9a?, p. <<. '36 .Whoever recites this in the morning will have the reward of freeing a slave from the Ehildren of 0sma il. /en "asanat )rewards+ will be written for him, and he will be forgiven ten misdeeds, raised up ten degrees, and protected from ,atan until evening. Whoever sa#s it in the evening will have the same reward until morning, Abu 1awud <42'9, 24967, Ahmad <46(, 0bn Ma!ah 3422', 0bn Al&$ai##im 'ad Al-!a'ad 34255. 0ts chain of transmission is unfailing )Sahih+, Al&Albani '437(.

'36 Whoever recites this one hundred times a da# will have the reward of freeing ten slaves. >ne

hundred "asanat )rewards+ will be written for him and one hundred misdeeds will be washed awa#. "e shielded from ,atan until the evening. 7o one will be able to present an#thing better than this eAcept for someone who has recited more than this, Al&9u%hari <496, Muslim <43(7'.

96. ,ubhaan Allaahi wa bi&hamdihi- Adada %hal;ihi, wa ridhaa nafsihi, wa ?inata arshihi wa midaada %alimaatihi.

96. Allaahumma innee as alu%a ilman naafi an, wa ri?;an ta##iban, wa amalan muta;abbalan.
!h Allah, I ask 3ou for knowle#ge that is of benefit, a goo# provision, an# #ee#s that will be accepte#. ,*ecite in Arabic upon rising in the morning.)'35

97. Astaghfirullaaha wa atoobu ilaihi.


I seek the forgiveness of Allah an# repent to Him. ,*ecite one hundred times in Arabic during the da#.)'39

the morning and ten times in the evening will obtain m# intercession on the 1a# of *esurrection.. At&/abarani reported this "adith together withtwo chains of transmission. >ne of them is reliable )(ayyid+. ,ee "aithami s !ajma' A)-'awa'id '(4'3(, and Al&Albani s ,ahih At&/arghib Wat&/arhib '4372.
