eWON QuickGuide: Increasing The C-Mores Timeout Settings for Remote Access

Abstract: This QuickGuide will show you how to increase the timeout connection setting of the C-More programming software in order to connect to remotely located C-More. Helps Resolve The Following Issues: 1. The C-More Programming software will not show that the Remote C-More is online even though you are able to ping the HMI. 2. The C-More Programming software intermittently disconnects during panel program downloads. Instructions: 1. Open Windows Explorer and locate the EA_.ini file of the C-More programming software. Typically the file is located within the following folder: C:\Program Files (x86)\AutomationDirect\C-more

2. Open the EA_.ini file using Notepad. Note: I recommend making a back-up copy of the file before editing as a precaution.

3. Locate the [App] section within the ini file.

4. Add the following Instructions under the [App] section. PING=1 PINGTIMEOUT=x PanelTimeout=x

Note: The Timeout settings are measured in milliseconds. Depending the latency of the connection between the remote C-more and the C-More programming software will help determine what timeout setting should be placed. I typically set the PingTimout to be 2500 250ms ms 2500 and PanelTimeout to be 5000ms since these settings generally work for me. Note: There is a tradeoff as you increase the Timeout settings. The higher the number the longer it will take for the C-more program to Download/Upload remotely and locally. I suggest

lowering the Timeout settings after the remote connection if Local Panel Program upload/download time is inconvenient.
