ATLAS outer-sole think one step ahead.

Today, continual investment in the latest technologies allows us to offer innovative outer-sole concepts. Six state-of-the-art MPU systems produce 1.8m pairs of safety shoes per year at our Dortmund site. Different varieties of outer soles are manufactured at each station. The latest computer and robot technologies ensure the utmost precision in the direct foam-application process. Here, the multifunctional MPU material is adapted such that different treads and hardness grades can be combined depending on the tread orientation: softer outer soles for indoor and assembly areas; and robust, heat- and cut-resistant varieties for outdoor use. All outer soles are combined with a comfort midsole providing tread elasticity. This two-layer process allows perfect adaptation of the shock-absorbing properties. A strategic partnership with BaySystems, a system provider for polyurethanes and a subsidiary of Bayer MaterialScience AG, allows us to constantly forge new paths and thus to rapidly implement requirements in multifunctional polyurethane materials. At the same time, both companies have made top quality their objective. This combination builds trust and leads to satisfied customers.

Why leather is not just leather at ATLAS!

ATLAS works exclusively with top-quality cattle hides and therefore manufactures the leather parts of the shoes at its own facility in southern Brazil. This is made possible by an extremely careful selection process, in which only flawless, high-quality and soft materials make the grade. Trained and qualified ATLAS personnel guarantee top quality, from the raw materials to the finished, stitched shoe. This results in a quality product that offers both excellent value and wearing

ATLAS clima-stream concept.

Once our body is at the correct operating temperature, its efficiency increases. If the body temperature rises or falls as a result of changes in the ambient climate, everyday work quickly becomes an extreme burden. The correct climate concept in a safety shoe therefore plays a vital role in day-to-day work. The ATLAS clima-stream generation increases breathability, balances out the moisture inside the shoe and perfectly adapts itself to the ambient temperature. High-quality, breathable upper leather, light inner-lining materials and the Klima Komfort (climate comfort) insole deliver this unmistakable comfort. The optimum comfort temperature in the shoe is 32 C. Even the slightest deviations by 12 degrees lead to an unpleasant feeling of hot or cold feet. The properties of the clima-stream materials perfectly balance out these temperature fluctuations. This is only possible thanks to a perfect combination and coordination of the different clima-stream materials.

Nubuck leather / Oiled buck leather To maintain the stunning, velvety look of nubuck leather, the leather should be treated with a nubuck brush and nubuck spray. If the leather gets wet, leave it to dry and then brush it so that it does not become hard. Waterproof smooth leather Clean waterproof leather with just a soft, dry cloth and a little Waterstop care cream.

Orthopaedic insoles in accordance with BGR 191

The revision of the German trade association rule BGR 191 stipulates that orthopaedic insoles must only be inserted into safety shoes in conjunction with a valid type examination. This is intended to prevent insoles other than those tested by the shoe manufacturer being used in the shoes. Specified and verified properties are retained, such as antistatic protection and sufficient remaining height in the protective toecap. ATLAS offers you corresponding practical solutions for orthopaedic treatment.. The included base insole, which is tested at the factory, must be constructed and adapted by the orthopaedic shoemaker in accordance with the provided manufacturing instructions. Furthermore, the ERGO-MED models in the special widths 13 and 14 can also be used in special cases. These offer a larger volume in the forefoot area.

Orthopaedic modifications
All models in the ERGO-MED series are suitable for orthopaedic modifications. Modifications include raised heels and soles, butterfly rollers, soft padding, raised inside or outside edges, etc. Simply select a model from the ERGOMED series and let us know what changes you would like or send us a doctors prescription indicating the required modifications. The ATLAS orthopaedic shoemaker will make the necessary modifications. ATLAS bills for the modifications and delivers the shoes.

A noticeable weight reduction raises the comfort of a safety shoe. The lightweights among the safety shoes are the ATLAS alu-tec models. They focus on aluminium as a future high performance material. A lightweigt shoe enhaces the well-being and provides the highest possible safety. An additional asset: Due to the lightweight aluminium toecap the balance point of the shoe shifts to the foot centre. This avoids the risk of tripping. With DUO-SOFT outer sole technology, two high quality materials are combined in a practical way: a nitrile outer sole for high resistance to chemicals, cutting and damage by shavings and swarf and a shock absorbing comfort midsole made of polyurethane.The outer sole has a 4.5 mm large studded tread and is extremely wear-resistant, oil, acid and petrol resistant and heat-resistant up to 220C. The DUO-SOFT sole is also superlight and highly elastic and gives effective protection to the spine, ligaments and joints thanks to its integrated Power Point cushioning and provides optimum comfort in wear.

All foundry and welding boots have been certified with an insole in accordance with EN ISO 20349. These shoes may only be used with this inserted insole. The insole must only be replaced by a comparable insole by the same shoe manufacturer. The identification on the shoes shows, among others, the protective categories according to EN ISO 20349 for footwear protecting against thermal risks and molten metal splashes as found in foundries and welding. The type approval test was conducted by TV Rheinland.

Ergo-Med stands for optimum walking comfort e.g. with especially wide foot shapes. Thanks to the generous fit, that all important room to move in the shoe is retained and pressure and rubbing points are avoided. The models are optionally available in special widths of 13 and 14 and they offer the shoe wearer more space in the forefoot area. The integrated Power Point cushioning element takes strain off the spinal column, ligaments and joints to a noticeable extent. So we achieve an optimum fit for every wearer and not only prevent the occurrence of fatigue but also reduce the risk of accidents.
