Dear fellow student leaders, Warmest greetings of solidarity! The Office of the Student Regent will convene the 37th General Assembly of Student Councils (GASC) from the 25th to the 26th of January 2014 for Academic Year 2013-2014 at the University of the Philippines Mindanao, Mintal, Davao City. Throughout the years, the GASC has served as a venue for the various student councils in the entire UP System wherein we may be able to discuss the pressing conditions in the particular units and comprehensively formulate probable solutions in all these. As the Iskolar ng Bayan continues to face numerous problems both inside and outside the four walls of the University, it remains essential for us to unite in all our efforts so as to overcome all these adversaries. As part of our agenda, the Office deems it very much timely for the Student Councils to discuss several matters with regard to the rehabilitation and reconstruction of our campuses in Tacloban and in Palo. Now, more than ever, it is crucial for us to continue on our efforts of restoring those lives who have been devastated by the calamity that was Yolanda. Also, it is crucial for us to hold a discussion of our plans of action for the Universitys budget while the Administration is still on the works with its proposal. Time and again, we are being threatened by the government with humongous slashes on our requested budget vis a vis the rampant misuse and misallocation of our public funds. As leaders coming from the countrys premier institution for higher learning, our collective and unified efforts will surely serve as an instrument that will stir the consciousness of many young Filipinos and create pressure on those implementers who decide on these matters. The OSR also received proposals to amend the Codified Rules for Student Regent Selection (CRSRS) from three (3) student councils. In accordance to the relevant provisions of the CRSRS, the said proposals will be included in the agenda and subjected to deliberations. These are just some of the items which will be included in the agenda. Should you have suggested matters for inclusion, kindly submit them to the Office on or before January 12. A final copy of the proposed agenda will be sent to your Council not later than January 17. Attached herewith is a copy of the projected expenses of each participant in the upcoming GASC with the necessary details and an agreement contract for your participation. Please confirm

your attendance on or before January 15, 5:00PM, by sending an e-mail to uposrsec1314@gmail.com. A letter of acknowledgement with the list of confirmed delegates will be sent to your Council by January 17. REGISTRATION: The OSR Secretariat will need a copy of your student council constitution, by-laws, a printed copy of acknowledgement of confirmation of attendance from the Secretariat (thru e-mail), contract of agreement, and full payment for the registration.
