Step 1: Step 2:
Check out the building, set-up blower door and complete safety testing. Install Health & Safety measures as possible prior to completing air sealing to ensure safety of crews and occupants. As Is Blower Door Test Perform this test before you do any work on the building. This test documents the overall leakiness of the building before weatherization work starts. This test gives the potential for overall air sealing of a building. 1. Seal all major attic bypasses. As a rule of thumb for sealing all major attic bypasses, conditioned air leaking into attics should be no greater than 10% of the total CFM50 of the final blower door test. 2. Seal gross holes in the building pressure envelope. Examples: missing windows; sealing key junctures like where the interior floors meet the walls in balloon framed house.
Step 3:
Step 4:
Complete attic, foundation and wall measures. Install replacement doors and windows called for as part of the audit. CAUTION: Empty sidewalls will be included as bypasses when testing using zone diagnotics. You may need to complete dense pack sidewall insulation to get accurate results under Step 3. Perform this test as the starting point for using the Cost Effective Guidelines. Cost effective limits are stated as CFM50gl/worker hour and CEG/100CFM50. To be cost-effective, air sealing work completed by the crews must reduce the air leakage by more than the CFM50/hour. The cost of completing air sealing must be less than the calculated $/100CFM50. Seal holes between the house and the outside. First concentrate low in the building (infiltration) and high in the building (exfiltration). When you have sealed the biggest holes, perform a blower door test and run a cost effective test using the WCEG program. If it says you are cost-effective, continue air sealing. Use the blower door, smoke or other tools to determine where additional sealing should be completed. Continue this process until it says you are not cost-effective and stop air sealing work. Perform this test after all work is completed on the building.

Step 8:
"Comfort Sealing":
Comfort sealing is completed when blower door testing cannot be performed. Sealing work should address attic bypasses, key junctures and gross holes in the building shell. Additional sealing that will affect the occupants comfort is limited to 1 labor hour.
Remember to document the location where you set-up the blower door, wind conditions, inside and outside temperatures and gauge calibration dates. Document any other conditions or problems which may have affected your results in the comments section below. Comments:
Step 1: Step 2:
Check out the mobile home, set-up blower door and complete safety testing. Install Health & Safety measures as possible prior to completing air sealing to ensure safety of crews and occupants. As Is Blower Door Test Perform this test before you do any work on the mobile home. This test documents the overall leakiness of the mobile home before weatherization work starts. This test gives the potential for overall air sealing of a mobile home. Seal major supply leaks such as: 1) Furnace to plenum connection; 2) boot to floor and boot to trunk; 3) branch duct to main trunk connection; 4) crossover duct connections. Seal belly return air openings and bypass around furnace stack to prevent air being drawn from attic space
Step 3:
Step 4:
Complete floor/belly, attic/ceiling and sidewall measures. Follow shell measure protocols to seal or repair holes in the shell. Install insider storms, replacement doors or replacement windows as called for as part of the audit. Perform this test as the starting point for using the Cost Effective Guidelines.
