Matt 1:18-23 … they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us.
I. THE SON OF GOD TOOK A FLESHLY FORM TO DWELL AMONG US.
A. Jesus was human just as we are.
1. John 1:14 And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory
as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.
B. Jesus was, and is, God.
1. John 1:1-2 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was
God. The same was in the beginning with God.
C. Being human, however, He faced – and overcame – the temptations of this world.
1. Phil 2:5-7 … took upon him the form of a servant , and was made in the likeness of men:
2. Heb 4:14-16 … was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin.
D. Jesus Christ left to ascend back into heaven – but made a great promise.
1. Matt 28:18-20 I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen.
II. HOW CAN JESUS CHRIST BE WITH US ALWAYS, EVEN UNTO THE END OF THE WORLD?
A. When we assemble.
1. Matt 18:20 where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them.
2. 1 Cor 11:23-25 Take, eat: this is my body, which is broken for you:
B. As long as we have the truth. [Forever]
1. John 14:5-6 I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.
2. 2 John 2-3 For the truth's sake, which dwelleth in us, and shall be with us for ever.
C. As long as we have the Word.
1. 1 Peter 1:25 But the word of the Lord endureth for ever. And this is the word which by the gospel is
preached unto you.
D. As long as we love.
1. 1 John 4:12-16 God is love; and he that dwelleth in love dwelleth in God, and God in him.
E. As long as there are Christians.
1. Acts 11:25-26 Then departed Barnabas to Tarsus, for to seek Saul: And when he had found him, he
brought him unto Antioch. And it came to pass, that a whole year they assembled themselves with the
church, and taught much people. And the disciples were called Christians first in Antioch.
2. Acts 26:28 Then Agrippa said unto Paul, Almost thou persuadest me to be a Christian .
3. 1 Peter 4:16 Yet if any man suffer as a Christian, let him not be ashamed; but let him glorify God
on this behalf.
4. Christians are those who obey Christ and Christ is in them.
a. 1 John 3:24 And he that keepeth his commandments dwelleth in him, and he in him. And
hereby we know that he abideth in us, by the Spirit which he hath given us.
b. Col 1:26-27 Even the mystery which hath been hid from ages and from generations, but now is
made manifest to his saints: To whom God would make known what is the riches of the glory of
this mystery among the Gentiles; which is Christ in you, the hope of glory:
5. Christians are dwellers in an everlasting kingdom.
a. Ps 145:13 Thy kingdom is an everlasting kingdom, and thy dominion endureth throughout all
generations.
b. Dan 4:3 How great are his signs! and how mighty are his wonders! his kingdom is an everlasting
kingdom, and his dominion is from generation to generation.
c. 2 Peter 1:11 For so an entrance shall be ministered unto you abundantly into the everlasting
kingdom of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.
