: Inversion of sucrose_Keventer Agro Ltd, Kolkatta.
This refers to the meeting held with customer on 19 th Oct' 09 to fine tune sugar
inversion process using ion exchange resin to achieve
a) Reduction in generation of waste sugar solution (by minimizing fractions of
sweetening on and sweetening off) from present volume of 9 bed volumes
to 4 bed volumes.
b) Process consistency with respect to flow rate (2 BV/hr) and temperature
(60oC)
c) Material balance (inlet & outlet sugar values).
The inversion trials started from 10th Dec' 09 using Indion 525 and Indion 860 resins
and till today 0+ 4 cycles are completed and following table shows the results
obtained.

Observations:
1. Indion 860 resin got turned to darken during service cycle and this color may Eluted at
time of regeneration. But not completely.
2. Sweetening OFF qualitative product got by compressed air.
3. Resin bed cleaning with hot DM Water for an hour.
4. Sweetening ON solution of approx 30 Brix of 2BV
= 0.180 kg approx
5. Back washing water contains 20 Brix of sugar
= 0.100 kg
6. Liquid spillages it counts as
= 0.050 kg
