PART 2 - PRODUCTS 2.01 Centrifugal Roof Mounted Exhaust Fans A. Refer to Equipment Schedule on the Drawings for capacity and other data. Fan housing shall be of heavy gauge spun aluminum construction for small fans. All fans shall be weatherproof, incorporating on integral weather shield. Fan shall be mounted an pre-fabricated roof curb as shown on the Drawings. Fan wheels shall be centrifugal, statically and dynamically balanced, air foil or backward inclined type. Bearing shall be heavy duty, grease lubricated. Fans shall have back draft dampers of aluminum multi-blade construction. Dampers shall be precision balanced, have nylon bearing and felt edges. Minimum acceptable efficiency for any fan shall be 40% unless the fan operates against an external static pressure of 0 wg. Maximum sound power level shall be 50 db measured on the A weighted scale, slow rate. Decibel readings are referenced to 10-12 watts. Fans shall be certified by AMCA in accordance with AMCA Standard 300-85. Fan motors shall be open drip proof and comply with NEMA 4 and be U.L. approved.

Ceiling Mounted Cassette Type Fan: The fan wheel housing and integral outlet duct shall be injection molded from a specially engineered resin exceeding UL requirements for smoke and heat generation. The outlet duct shall have an aluminum backdraft damper with continuous aluminum hinge rod. The inlet box shall be a minimum 22 gaugegalvanized steel. Motor shall be isolation mounted. A field wiring compartment with disconnect receptacle shall be standard. To accommodate different ceiling thickness, an adjustable pre-punched mounting bracket shall be provided. A white, high impact styrene injection molded grill shall be provided.

B. Duct mounted exhaust fans shall be of the centrifugal, direct driven in-line type. The fan housing shall be of the square design, constructed of heavy gauge galvanized steel and shall include square duct mounting collars. Fan construction shall include two removable access panels located perpendicular to the motor mounting panel. The access panels must be of sufficient size to permit easy access to all interior components. The fan wheel shall be centrifugal backward inclined, constructed of aluminum and shall include a wheel cone carefully matched to the inlet cone for precise running tolerances. Wheels shall be statically and dynamically balanced. Motors shall be permanently lubricated and matched to the fan loads. Motors shall be readily accessible for maintenance. A NEMA 1 disconnect switch shall be provided as standard, except with explosion resistant motors, where disconnects are as shown on the drawings. All fans shall bear the AMCA Certified Ratings Seal for both sound and air performance. Each fan shall bear a permanently affixed manufacturers nameplate containing the model number and individual serial number for future identification. When explosion proof option is indicated in the equipment schedule, the fan shall have a complete explosion proof no-spark construction.

Bleed Fans A. B. Industrial Type fan used to exhaust sandy air. Fan housings shall be of heavy sheet steel construction, ruggedly braced with steel angles and continuously welded scroll. Wheel diameters, inlet areas and outlet areas shall be in accordance with AMCA Standards for Industrial Fans. Fan Wheels shall be of the open wheel suitable for sand handling applications. The wheel shall be selected to allow proper selection of the fan to the application.

F. Bearings are to be sized to have a L-10 life of 40,000 hours minimum or average fatigue life of 200,000 hours or more. The bearings shall be pillow block type, heavy-duty anti-friction, self-aligning ball or roller type. Shafts shall be 1045 SAE steel shafts to be sized so that the first critical speed will be at least 1.25 times the maximum operating speed for each series. Fans shall be completely assembled and test run prior to shipment. Balance shall be accomplished with electronic equipment and records of each fans readings shall be provided.

I. Fan shall be MH-Series from cook fans or ACME Series 400 Industrial Fan or approved Equal 2.05 Kitchen Exhaust Fan A. Kitchen exhaust fan shall be spun aluminum, centrifugal, roof mounted upblast, belt driven type. The fan wheel shall be centrifugal backward inclined, constructed of aluminum and shall include a wheel cone carefully matched to the inlet cone for precise running tolerances. Wheels shall be statically and dynamically balanced. The fan housing shall be constructed of heavy gauge aluminum with a rigid internal support structure. The windband shall be welded to the one-piece curb cap and on all sizes with UL-762. Motors shall be heavy duty ball bearing type, carefully matched to the fan load, and furnished at the specified voltage, phase and enclosure. Drive frame assembly shall be constructed of heavy gauge steel. Motors and drives shall be mounted on vibration isolators, out of the air stream where no steel to steel contact between rotating components and the base shall occur. Fresh air for motor cooling shall be drawn into the motor compartment through a ten square inch tube free of discharge contaminants. Motors and drives shall be readily accessible for maintenance. A disconnect switch shall be factory installed and wired from the fan motor to a junction box within the motor compartment. A conduit chase shall be provided through the curb cap to the motor compartment for ease of electrical wiring. Precision ground and polished fan shafts shall be mounted in permanently sealed, lubricated pillow block ball bearings. Bearings shall be selected for a minimum (L10) life in excess of 100,000 hours at maximum cataloged operating speed. Drives shall be sized for a minimum of 150% of driven horsepower. Pulleys shall be of the cast type, keyed and securely attached to the wheel and motor shafts. Motor pulleys shall be adjustable for final system balancing. A disconnect switch shall be factory installed and wired from the fan motor to a junction box installed within the motor compartment. A conduit chase

shall be provided through the base to the motor compartment for ease of electrical wiring. D. All fans shall bear the AMCA Certified Ratings Seal for sound and air performance. Each fan shall bear a permanently affixed manufacturer's engraved metal nameplate containing the model number and individual serial number for future identification. A leakproof fan housing shall be constructed with a one piece windband with an integral rolled bead for added strength and shall be joined to the curbcap with a continuously welded seam. Fans shall be Listed by Underwriters Laboratory for UL- 762 Listed for all electrical components and grease removal. Fans shall be tested under high temperature (400 degrees F) and abnormal flare-up (600 degrees F) conditions. A curb extension shall be provided to meet IMC requirements of 40 in. minimum discharge above the roof Grease Containers: Drain connection shall be constructed of aluminum and allow for a single point drainage of grease, water or other residues. Grease Trap shall include the drain connection and shall be constructed from aluminum. The unit shall collect grease and water from the fan and extract the grease from the water for ease of grease disposal Easy Clean Option : Hinge kit shall be constructed of heavy gauge aluminum hinges and shall include hold open cables for field installation. Non Stick wheel shall be constructed of aluminum with a non stick coating. Clean out port shall have a hole on the outside of the windband and a grease repellent compression rubber fit, allowing access to entire wheel for cleaning.
