Use the OHS training matrix to identify required safety training. Refer to the addititional tabs to identify specific "learning pathways" and linkages to OHS training tools. the Training Planner to manage the on-boarding process and requisites for professional practice. This matrix forms part of OHSMS 1-8#21 Occupational Health and Safety Induction Training Use

Generic training (Core knowledge) - OHS skills and knowledge which is commonly required. Risk specific training (Work enviroment) is identified according to the nature of the work being conducted and the associated risks within the working enviroment. Task specific training (Role based) are the skills and knowledge which an individual may require training in to complete their work tasks in a safe manner. Requisite for Professional Practice (RPP) training is training deemed compulsory for employees when relevant to their location, occupation, specialty requirements of their position or work unit or when based on risk assessment processes. This training can be deemed as mandatory for certain individuals, but is not required by all employees within Queensland Health. > Refer to the Green TAB for:

ABM Course: The ABM training course is designed as a progressive pathway of units from the 30554QLD Cert III Aggressive Beh assessed training needs of the work area, the role and tasks that different staff perform. Mandatory Requisite for Professional Practice Orientation to Occupational Violence - Refer to Mandatory TAB ABM Occupational Violence Awareness This course focuses on the skills and knowledge required to identify situations for potential violence in a healthcare setting. The knowledge enables more effective response to crisis situations where violence or threats of violence is directed towards self, co-workers, patients and others. This is a self assessment of Nil computer set up and use, completed via physical offering (self assessment checklist) mode. The assessment will assist workers to identify and record: ergonomic problems with their own workstation and recommendations made and corrective actions taken

This work area specfic training is delivered via instructor led (face to face) training, and involves practical instruction in patient handling safe work procedures specific to the work area. This will include: individual patient handling assessment (where relevant to the workers scope of practice) safe work procedures for patient handling techniques and equipment, as determined by training needs analysis ongoing task specific training provided as required, based on training needs analysis Details of what was covered must be kept with the local training records.

It includes the worker's selection and use of safe patient handling procedures, including the use of safe postures and movements, and the safe use of equipment. This course is delivered via instructor led (face to face) training, and provides the initial training and assessment required to be certified as a Patient Handling Ward/Unit Trainer.

For eligibility to become a Patient Handling Ward/Unit Trainer, refer to Section 7 of the Think Smart Patient Handling Better Practice Guidelines 2nd edition.

This course is designed for workers who wish to become certified as a Patient Handling Ward/ Unit Trainer i.e. able to deliver training and assessment (to a level relevant to their own professional scope of practice) of other workers at the local ward/ unit level.

This course is delivered via instructor led (face to face) training, and provides the annual refresher training and reassessment for existing Patient Handling Ward/Unit Trainers.

Completion of the Patient Handling Existing Patient Ward/Unit Trainer Course. To maintain Handling Ward/Unit Patient Handling Ward/Unit Trainer Trainers. certification, the trainer is required to: conduct a minimum of 3 patient handling training/ assessment sessions per year, and Training is based on training attend annual refresher training and needs analysis. Certification is obtained by attending an instructor led (face to face) Patient Handling Lead Trainer course, or via an instructor led (face to face) direct assessment. Both options require completion of both practical and theory assessment criteria. Assessment is conducted by a Healthcare Ergonomics Consultant, or delegate. Patient Handling Ward/Unit Trainer Course For eligibility to become a Patient Handling Lead Trainer, refer to section 7 of the Think Smart Patient Handling Better Practice Guidelines 2nd edition Patient Handling Ward/Unit Trainers who wish to be assessed for Patient Handling Lead Trainer certification (ie able to conduct training and assessment of Patient Handling Ward/Unit Trainers).

The assessment is conducted via peer review by another lead trainer (or delegate).
