INTRO CONCEPT

The main concept of the galley cafe is the fishing-tackle which is a common tools of fishman use for going fishing. The fishing-tackle (creel) has a strong realtionship with fishman activites life. The creel has a oval shape and made of bamboo stick . The reason for choosing this concept object is that the creel is a part of fishman life and its also related to Kampong Glam area history. Kampong Glam before is a market and ship pief which is a crowned place of fishman and bussiman. This project is design a gallery cafe at Kampong Glam area-historic area in Singapore.Address : 146 Arab Street Cafe name is Orang Laut, or Sea People refer to sea nomads and sea gypsies. They were one of the earlier immigrants who inhabited along the coastline of Singapore island during pre-colonial days. The community typically lived off a dwelling boat, known colloquially as sampan panjang or long boat. The name of the gallery and caf is derived from the history of kampong Glam and the people that migrated to this region. The gallery will have two part. 2D gallery will showcase the painting and photo of the Kampong Glam peir , Orang Laut and their activities and the amphibious arch architecture of a waterfront kampong house .All photo will be in Black and white. 3D gallery will showcase the fishing tools of Orang Laut and the Nusantara vessels s model which were once a common sight along the Beach Road coastline. The next reason is that the creel is made from bamboo material and the color is borrow yellow. So, the main color and material concpet of the gallery also can follow the color of creel. This color is more suitable for design a shophouse interior astmosphere and not too model so it will not lose the historic vaule of the house.

The concept is also based on 2D the gallery which showcase the painting and photo of the Kampong Glam peir , Orang Laut and their activities and the amphibious arch architecture of a waterfront kampong house and 3D gallery which showcase the fishing tools of Orang Laut and the Nusantara vessels s model which were once a common sight along the Beach Road coastline.

The gallery entrance is designed with two side white brick wall and creel sheft. At the middle of this area is 3 creel which are arange random high and above them is various bottel ship model. The cafe area is designed same color scheme with gallery entrance. The curve chair is designed wtih glossness light brown laminated. The table is used glass to reflect the material of wall and floor which is mapple wood.

The main gallery area is at the back of the cafe. The wall is designed with a big fame the middel with coving up light inside. This design is a 3d printing with wave and ship .The other wall of the main gallery is design with creel fame and B&M photo of the fishing activites of kampong glam. A PORTFOLIO OF WILLIAM
