401 10 December 2013 The Explanation of the Rhetorical Choices a) After the economics crisis in 2008, the economics of China is recovering. There are increasingly companies running in China now (China Business newspaper). It is urgent to lead these companies in a correct way to rebuild our business. In my opinion, practicing CSR is what Chinese companies lacked. I want to do something to improve our business environment.

b) I wrote this letter because I want to make the State Administration for Industry and Commerce of the People's Republic of China (SAIC of China) improve the development of our corporations. As a Chinese business student who is studying in America. I accepted education in here and had a research about that issue. I do know that practicing CSR is necessary to the situation of Chinese corporations.

c) My claim is that Chinese corporations should practice CSR, because practicing CSR is good for development of Chinese corporations in the competition and it is also good for our countrys image. I used a report of CSR-strategy of HP Company and news about Chinese corporations in Myanmar to support my claim.

Zhang 2 d) I choose the SAIC of China, the Chinese government agency to charge all corporations, as my public audience, because the SAIC of China play a significant role in leading companies to practice CSR. I think it is the most powerful agency which in charge of managing corporations in China. Every company should be registered before running. It has responsibility to make our corporations run much more successful and has rights to take some actions to improve development of Chinese companies. As an agency, which has a direct relationship with corporations, should be interested in a business article about corporations. To meet their need, I gave some advice that how to make our corporations run smoothly.

e) I plan to send this letter to Business Daily, which is an authoritative newspaper of economics in China. People or agencies, that have interests in business, will read it, because this paper can give the most useful information about business in China. I hope this letter can be published in that newspaper and the people in the SAIC of China will read it.

f) I chose the open letter to express my ideas. To be an open latter, it should be considered headlines, space, typeface and so on. I just follow the example that my instructor gave to us to make sure my convention is right. I create hyperlinks in my letter that my reader can find my source by links.

Zhang 3 g) I want this letter to be published in the newspaper, therefore I cant give a long article. The examples that I give might not very clear. Additional, I am a student without any academic background. The Business Daily might not use my letter.
