Steven Cohen, Superintendent of Schools BOARD OF EDUCATION Regular Public Meeting Agenda - DRAFT December 17, 2013 The Shoreham-Wading River Central School District Board of Education is the authorized agency responsible for setting educational policy in the District. It consists of seven members who each serve three-year terms and receive no salary or other financial compensation. The meetings, except for Executive Sessions, are held before the public. The Board of Education may convene to Executive Session immediately after opening the meeting. At the end of the Executive Session, the Board of Education will re-convene to the Regular Meeting. Arrival and departure times of the Board of Education members shall be noted in the minutes and within the order of events. A maximum of half hour will be allocated for agenda items Statements of Residents with a three minute limit per individual. Each speaker must be a resident of the District. Residents wishing to make comments or raise questions shall state their name and address. Public discussion is prohibited on matters relating to staff and students at which their reputation, privacy, or rights to due process or the rights of others to due process, could be in some way violated. Residents will be permitted to participate in Board of Education discussion and agenda item Discussion, however Board of Education members will speak first. Each resident will be limited to one input with a two minute maximum. A time limit for residents discussion will be no more than 10 minutes unless a majority of the Board wants to extend the time due to the nature of the topic. Residents will address the Board and not each other during this discussion. Each Board Member voting on a motion shall be permitted to state the reason for doing so and the statement shall be noted in the minutes. The public, in its comments, will refrain from making any direct references to student or staff members. Such references to individual students or staff members are inappropriate in a public forum and should instead be conducted in private conversation with an appropriate member of the staff. Employee Reimbursement Mileage Rate: WHEREAS, on July 9, 2013 at the Re-Organization Meeting, the Board of Education of the Shoreham-Wading River Central School District authorized the mileage rate for employee reimbursement at $.565 cents per mile for 2013-2014 as established by the Internal Revenue Service; and WHEREAS, the Internal Revenue Service has issued the 2014 optional standard mileage rates effective January 1, 2014 for employee mileage reimbursement at $.56 cents per mile; therefore BE IT RESOLVED, the Board of Education of the Shoreham-Wading River Central School District hereby authorizes the mileage rate for employee reimbursement at $.56 cents per mile effective January 1, 2014 as established by the Internal Revenue Service.

Harris Beach, PLLC Contract: RESOLVED, that the Board of Education of the Shoreham-Wading River Central School District hereby approves a contract between the District and Harris Beach, PLLC to provide legal advice and counsel to the District on any issues related to the Affordable Care Act for the period commencing December 17, 2013 to December 31, 2014 with an option to renew for one (1) year at the same cost of $7,500.00. The President of the Board is authorized to sign this contract and thereby signify the Boards acceptance to the agreement. Roof Replacement Project Change Order #1: BE IT RESOLVED, the Board of Education of the Shoreham-Wading River Central School District hereby approves the below change order related to the Briarcliff Elementary School and High School Roof Replacement Project (SED No 58-06-01-04-0-007-019), specifically at the High School, which has also been reviewed and recommended by the BBS Architects, and the Districts Plant and Facilities Administrator: 1.
