A very good morning to my English teacher, Miss Choong and my fellow friends.

The ballad which Im going to present today is A Whole New World, one of the original soundtrack to the 1992 Disney film Aladdin. "A Whole New World was composed by Alan Menken with lyrics by Tim Rice. The original version was sung by Brad Kane and Lea Salonga during the film. A single version of the song was previously released was performed by Peabo Bryson and Regina Belle. This version is played in the movie's end credits and is referred on the soundtrack as "Aladdin's Theme". This song is a ballad between the primary characters Aladdin and princess Jasmine about the new world they are going to discover together. I believe that most of you had heard the movie Aladdin before. This story is about the main character, Aladdin is a street-rat who lived in Agrabah, a large and busy town with his faithful monkey friend, Abu. Aladdin didnt have a real education and he is poor and had to steal to survive. Princess Jasmine was well educated, but she fell so caught in the palace. When she got tired of being forced to stay in the palace to overlook the city, she sneaked out to the marketplace, where she accidentally met Aladdin. Aladdin helped the princess out of trouble, and they fell in love. Aladdin returned to Agrabah just as Jafar tried to trick the Sultan into arranging a marriage between himself and Jasmine. When Aladdin paraded into the Sultan's palace as "Prince Ali", Jasmine rejected Ali as a suitor. Despite the Genie's suggestion that Aladdin to tell the princess who he really is, Aladdin kept up his act as a prince and took Jasmine around the world on the magic carpet. During the trip, Jasmine believed Ali was the man she saw earlier. Aladdin instead fabricated a story that he sometimes dresses as a commoner to escape palace life. After watching the movie, what I learned from this song and movie is not appropriate, and decided to "put a spin on it", by making the fulfillment of wishes seem like a great thing, but eventually becoming a problem. Another major moral value was not trying to be what the person is not both Aladdin and Jasmine get into trouble faking to be different people and the

Prince Ali persona failed to impress Jasmine, who only falls for Aladdin. Jasmine is different from other princess, being rebellious to the royal life and the social structure, and trying to make her own way, unlike the princesses who just wait for rescue. Here is the end of my speech. Thank you.
