1. About COMEDK
The Karnataka Private Medical & Dental Colleges Association, in their endeavour to offer an effective, fair and objective testing procedure to determine merit of students seeking admission to the member institutions, have formed Consortium of Medical, Engineering and Dental Colleges of Karnataka (COMEDK). COMEDK has been assigned the task of organising a common entrance test for the academic year 2013-2014, for Indian national candidates aspiring to pursue Post Graduate Courses in Medicine and Dentistry in the State of Karnataka, in Member Institutions of the Consortium (Medical and Dental Colleges). COMEDK entrance test & publication of test score and rank list will be followed by centralized counseling (Single window). The details will be published in due course on our website, www.comedk.org. The list of the Member Institutions who have indicated their participation in the COMEDK testing program, along with the courses offered by them, is published as part of this brochure, on our website www.comedk.org Applicants are advised to read this brochure thoroughly and familiarise themselves with the test procedures. Note: COMEDKs website www.comedk.org contains information and current updates/alerts. This site is updated regularly. COMEDK suggests all applicants to visit it frequently for relevant information.

3. Eligibility Criteria Degree / Diploma Programs:


Applicants must meet all requirements stipulated by MCI / DCI. Accordingly, they should have successfully passed their M.B.B.S. / B.D.S. from an institution recognized by MCI / DCI, and must have completed or completing their internship by 30/04/2013 at the latest.

MCI / DCI Norms:


Every student, selected for admission to the Post Graduate Medical / Dental course in any of the Medical / Dental institutions in the country, must possess recognized M.B.B.S. / B.D.S. degree or equivalent qualification and should have obtained permanent registration with the Medical Council of India / Dental Council of India, or any of the State Medical / Dental Council or should obtain the same within one month from the date of admission, failing which the admission of the candidate shall be cancelled. In the case of an Indian national with the recognized degree from Foreign University, the Medical Council of India / Dental Council of India may, on payment of the prescribed fee for the registration, grant temporary/permanent registration for the duration of the Post Graduate training restricted to the college / institution to which the applicant is admitted for the time being exclusively for Post Graduate studies. Temporary/Permanent registration to such candidates shall be subject to the condition that the degree is duly registered in the country where the degree is obtained and is recognized by the corresponding Council or concerned authority in India also. As per the Existing Post Graduate Regulation of Medical Council of India, the minimum percentage of marks in the Entrance Test (COMEDK PGET-2013) for eligibility and admission to Post Graduate Courses shall be 50% for General Merit candidates and 40% for the candidates belonging to Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes (All India) and Other Backward Classes belonging to Karnataka State only. As specified by the Dental Council of India, the minimum percentage of marks in the Entrance Test (COMEDK PGET- 2013) for eligibility and admission to Post Graduate Courses shall be 50% for General Merit candidates and 40% for the candidates belonging to Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes (All India) and Other Backward Classes belonging to Karnataka State only. Rank list / Rank Card will be prepared only for those candidates who become eligible for admission to Post Graduate Courses as per the regulations of Medical Council of India / Dental Council of India Regulations. Candidates who have appeared for COMEDK PGET during the last three years and selected a clinical PG Degree Seat and got admitted to any of the COMEDK Member Institutions are NOT allowed to appear for COMEDK PGET-2013.

4. About Member Institutions


Unaided, private Medical and Dental colleges which are members of COMEDK, across the State of Karnataka, offer various courses in Medical and Dental studies at Post Graduate level. The courses offered at the Post Graduate level include both Degree and Diploma programs. Colleges which have indicated their willingness to make admission to their Post Graduate courses based on merit in the Common Entrance Test organized by COMEDK (COMEDK PGET-2013) are listed below.
Note:

Minority status is applicable to candidates for admission to respective minority status colleges only.

Declaration once made in the application with regard to the category status like SC / ST / OBC and Minority etc., will not be changed subsequently either prior to test or counseling. Hence candidates are cautioned to fill in with great care about the category status.

Applications without duly attested SC/ST/OBC and Minority Certificates shall be treated strictly as belonging to General Merit and no correspondence shall be entertained after the last date (i.e. 10/01/2013). Mere mention of a category either as SC/ST/OBC/Minority without enclosing certificates necessary in this behalf, such applicants will be treated as belonging to General Merit category and no changes or modifications are permissible thereafter under any circumstances.

5. COMEDK Post Graduate Entrance Test-2013 (COMEDK PGET-2013)


COMEDK will conduct a separate entrance test for Medical and a separate entrance test for Dental Post Graduate courses called COMEDK PGET-2013, for candidates seeking admission to Post Graduate courses in Medical and Dental studies. The entrance test is being conducted for use by COMEDK Member Institutions only. The COMEDK entrance test is mandatory for candidates seeking admissions for the Post Graduate courses in COMEDK Member Institutions subject to the eligibility as prescribed by MCI/DCI. The COMEDK PGET-2013 test scores are valid only for admissions during the academic year 2013-2014.

The COMEDK PGET-2013 will be conducted only at centers in Bangalore on Sunday the 03rd February 2013.

5.1. Instructions for filling the Application Form


A separate link in the website is provided to assist the candidates in filling the Online Application form.

Candidates are advised to go through the instructions carefully before filling up the application form. General Instructions to Candidates
Please ensure that you have the following, ready on hand before you start filling up the Online Application Form Note: Send the Application and enclosures in A4 size envelope only. Do not fold the application form. Demand Draft has to be drawn from the nationalized bank in favour of "COMEDK" (Check for the correct spelling), payable at Bangalore (DD must be payable at Bangalore only) for Rs. 2250/- (Rupees Two Thousand Two Hundred and Fifty Only) application number & applicants name to be written behind the DD. Check for the bankers seal and signature on the DD. Demand Draft from any bank other than the Banks listed in the Appendix I will not be accepted. All marks cards (First Year to Final Year university examination marks card/s) Attempt Certificate is a statement indicating the number of attempt one has taken to clear a particular subject/year. Ensure that the online application form is filled up properly and completely. After you have filled in your online application form, click on the Submit button only once, to send the details to the server. The server will assign you an application number, and provide the facility to view your online application form with the details you have filled, along with the 6 digits application number. Date of Birth Certificate / Identity proof: Is an auto generated document which is generated along with the application form. It is printed as Date of Birth Certificate / Identity proof (COMEDK Copy and Candidate Copy). Both the copies need to be duly signed by the candidate. Date of Birth Certificate (COMEDK Copy): has to be sent along with the application form to COMEDK. Date of Birth Certificate (Candidate Copy): needs to be retained by the candidate and carried while writing the exam. The completed application form must have the candidates signature, impressions of left thumb, left forefinger and left middle finger. Kindly do not send any original documents along with the application form. Kindly stick your recent (not older than six months) passport size colour photograph only in the space provided. Application Form with smudged / tampered or hazy photograph will be rejected. Do not staple or pin your photograph to the application form. No attestation is required on the photograph. Please adhere to the time schedule enlisted in the calendar of events. Incomplete / incorrect applications will be rejected without prior information to the candidate. Multiple application form received from the same candidate will result in confusion and may result in disqualification. Demand Drafts drawn from Nationalized bank in excess of the prescribed fee (Rs.2250/-) if sent by the candidate will not be refunded. Non-refundable fee for taking COMEDK PGET-2013 and attending centralized counseling, if eligible, is Rs. 2250/- (Rupees Two Thousand Two Hundred and Fifty Only). COMEDK is not responsible for any error the candidate makes while filling up the Application Form.

Candidates belonging to SC / ST of All India and OBC of Karnataka would be considered, provided they furnish the duly attested Photocopy of the following Certificates: a. SC / ST : Caste Certificate issued by competent authority (Authorized to issue such a certificate but not below the rank of a Tahsildar) b. OBC: Category 1, 2A, 2B, 3A and 3B: As notified by the Karnataka Govt. Caste and Income Certificate issued by Tahsildar or higher revenue jurisdictional authority authorized to issue such a certificate. c. MINORITY : Religious (Christian) of All India / Linguistic (Tulu/Telugu) of Karnataka minority candidates have to produce certificate as per Appendix V of Brochure (available on www.comedk.org)

Candidates who have not produced appropriate supporting documents for claiming the status of Religious / Linguistic Minority / SC / ST / OBC are liable to be considered as General Merit Candidates. Note: Avoid stapling of Demand Draft to the application form, instead use clips Note: The recent passport size photographs have to be identical. It should not be more than 6 months old. Explanation of the fields that needs to be filled up in the application form: 1. Name of the Applicant
Enter your full Name (as it appears in your SSLC/10th Std Marks Card), your name should not exceed 30 characters including the blank spaces.

2. Date of Birth
Provide your date of birth in DD/MM/YYYY format only as in SSLC/10th Std Marks Card. For e.g.: If your date of birth is 24th August 1992, fill as 24/08/1992.

3. Course applying for


Select the course Medical / Dental. Please ensure that you meet the eligibility criteria for the course you select.

4. Gender
Select the appropriate option.

5. Nationality

6. Belongs to
Select the type of Domicile Karnataka / Non-Karnataka. If Karnataka, Select type, i.e. By Birth / By Domicile. For consideration into Karnataka category, the domicile rules of the Government of Karnataka will be strictly followed. If you belong to Karnataka by birth/domicile, and have schooling for not less than 10 years in Karnataka and MBBS/BDS degrees in colleges recognized by MCI/DCI and GOI established by law and located in Karnataka State. Indian Citizens of Karnataka origin, who studied for MBBS/BDS degrees in colleges outside Karnataka State, recognized by MCI/DCI and GOI and affiliated to any university established by law in India are also eligible. Such candidates have to produce certificates issued by the competent authority to show that he/she or his/her parents (Father/Mother) has been a resident of Karnataka State for a period of not less than 10 years along with the format as per Appendix-IV of the brochure and the study certificates of the Parents (Father/Mother). If you do not fall into the above two categories please select Non-Karnataka.

Religious Minority: Candidates who are Christian by religion have to select Christian to seek admission in the institution who has declared themselves as Religious Minority. (Applicable to all India Candidates). Candidates (Christian) belonging to the State of Karnataka are only eligible in the first round of counseling. However in the event of any vacancy in the second round (Minority round) the candidate belonging to the religious minority (Christian) from other State also would be eligible. Candidates seeking admission under minority status should have secured not less than 50% just as General candidates. Note: Appropriate minority status (Linguistic / Religious or Both) of the candidate should be indicated with supportive document along with the application form failing which he/she will not be eligible to select a seat under the said minority quota. Note: Declaration once made in the application with regard to the category status like SC / ST / OBC and Minority etc., will not be changed subsequently either prior to test or counseling. Hence candidates are cautioned to fill in with great care about the category status. 5.2. Applicant Login :


Applicant login gets activated only after the first stage of application processing is completed which is on receipt of the application at COMEDK office. In addition, candidates have been provided with a facility to check the status of their application at various stages. The candidate will have to click on the link indicating Applicant Login in the COMEDK website under PGET-2013 link. Candidates can login to the system by entering their Application Number and Date of Birth as mentioned in their application form. After the login is successful, the candidates will be provided with various information such as, ones application details, latest status of their application, provision to print Online Test Admission Ticket (Online TAT), and other alerts / information as specific to the candidate. Note: The candidate is hereby cautioned to enter his/her date of birth as per the 10th Std Marks card.

5.3. Online Test Admission Tickets and Related Information


Online Test Admission Ticket will be available under applicant login of the COMEDK website from 15/01/2013. Candidates appearing for COMEDK PGET-2013 should download & obtain printout of the Online Test Admission Ticket (Online TAT) for taking the COMEDK PGET 2013 scheduled to be held on 03/02/2013. No Test Admission Ticket will be dispatched either by post or courier or in person to the candidates under any circumstances. Candidates will not be allowed to write the COMEDK PGET 2013 without the print out of Online Test Admission Ticket, Date of Birth Certificate (Candidate

The candidates are assigned a test centre which is system generated during the application processing itself, hence no requests for change in test centre would be considered. The details of the Online Test Admission Tickets would be uploaded on the COMEDK website; www.comedk.org with effect from 15/01/2013. Please re check the website for any changes / updates before leaving your hometown for the test. Any request for change in the application data (including change of address) if any, during the process of COMEDK PGET-2013 must be intimated through speed post / courier / Email / Fax to COMEDK office to reach not later than 10/01/2013 along with covering letter and the Application No. on it. The covering letter regarding change request should be duly signed by the Candidate. The onus is on the candidate to check on the acceptance with the COMEDK on the change request.

5.3.1. Test and Related Information


The Entrance Test COMEDK PGET-2013 is mandatory for all candidates seeking admissions to PG Courses in Member Institutions of COMEDK for the academic year 2013-2014. A merit / rank list is generated based on the candidate's scores in COMEDK entrance test only.

5.3.2. Test Scheme


There will be one separate test for PG Medical and one separate test for PG Dental Courses. Each test will have 180 Multiple-Choice Questions (MCQ). The time allotted for the test would be 180 minutes. The test will begin at 10:00 AM and end at 01:00 PM Candidates are required to mark their answers in an OMR (Optical Mark Reader) Answer Sheet. Each correct answer is awarded one mark. Page 22 of 39

Notified on 10/12/2012 There will be no negative marking. However, in the event of a tie in score the principle of least negative responses (number of wrong answer) will be adopted. In addition, if required, other methods may be adapted to break ties vide 5.4.2. No mark/s will be awarded for multiple marking (marking multiple responses) for any question.

5.3.3. Test Syllabi


The scope of the syllabi for the Post Graduate Medical / Dental entrance test is based on the M.B.B.S. / B.D.S. syllabus as prescribed by MCI / DCI respectively.

5.3.4. Test Locations


The COMEDK entrance test, COMEDK PGET-2013, will be held in Bangalore only. The test will be held on the mentioned time and date in all the test centers. The details of the test centre allotted to the candidate will be available in the Online Test Admission Ticket. The candidates are assigned a test centre which is system generated during the application processing itself, hence no requests for change in test centre would be considered.

5.3.5. Instructions for Test Takers


Candidates please note:

Report 45 minutes before the commencement of the test (09:15 AM) Test commences at 10:00 AM. After 10:15 AM candidates will not be allowed to enter the examination hall to take the test (Delay by any means of transportation to the city and reaching the test centre beyond the given time will not be allowed to enter the examination hall and take the test). It is advisable to reach Bangalore a day prior to the examination.

No candidates shall be allowed to exit the examination hall before 01:00 PM. Candidates must not carry any electronic gadgets, textual material, printed

or written, bits of papers except the Test Admission Ticket print out and the acceptable photo ID proof inside the hall. Page 23 of 39

Notified on 10/12/2012 Answer sheet: All answers need to be registered on an Optical Mark Reader (OMR) sheet, which is machine read and evaluated. Candidates must use only black/blue ballpoint pen for marking their answers on the OMR answer sheet. Use of erasers or whiteners is not permitted. OMR answer sheet will be issued only at the examination hall. After the test is over, the answer sheet should be given back to the invigilator, before leaving the room. Candidates are allowed to take the candidates copy of the answer sheet and the Question Booklet only on completion of the test. Kindly note that the candidates must sign on their Test Admission Ticket (TAT) and OMR answer sheets in the presence of the invigilator, after the invigilator has verified their Test Admission Ticket (TAT). Invigilators will also sign on the column indicating Invigilators Signature on the TAT and OMR answer sheet, otherwise; the answer sheet will be invalid and not be considered for processing. The OMR Answer sheet contains the following fields which have to be filled in neatly and accurately by the candidate with blue/black ball point pen only. Use of pencil on the OMR answer sheet is not allowed. OMR answer sheet filled in with pencil would be rejected for evaluation. If there is any doubt, please contact the test invigilator immediately. The COMEDK PGET-2013 test administration is timed. The test session is designed to be completed within 180 minutes as indicated in this brochure and no compromise will be made on the set time limits. The Chief Superintendent of the test centre is the official timekeeper. Candidates (Test takers) will not be permitted to continue the test beyond the established time limit. Page 24 of 39

Notified on 10/12/2012 It is planned to use biometric verification during the test session (at the discretion of COMEDK). Candidates are not allowed to go out of the room temporarily for any reason during the test duration. For those who are unable to appear to the test on the scheduled date (i.e.03/02/2013) for any reason, No re-examination shall be held by COMEDK under any circumstances. The conduct of COMEDK PGET-2013 would be videographed. The candidates are required to keep their head in upright position and face the camera during the videography so that their identity could be clearly established.

5.3.6. Grounds for Dismissal


The COMEDK PGET-2013 test administrator is authorized to dismiss a candidate from a test session for:

Attempting to take the test for someone else (Impersonation). Failing to provide acceptable identification when asked for (details of acceptable Photo ID proof to be carried for the examination will be notified shortly in the COMEDK Website).

Creating disturbance at the test venue. Giving or receiving unauthorized help. Using any forbidden / unauthorised testing aids, such as personal

computational devices, pagers, cell phones, any electronic gadgets etc.,


Leaving the test centre before the stipulated time. Refusing to follow directions as stipulated by the invigilators etc., Photographic mismatch / photographs older than six months / smudged / hazy photograph will result in disqualification of the candidate.

Request for use of toilet during the test is not entertained.


Failure to comply with the test procedures and regulations or with the test administrator's directions can result in COMEDK taking action/s that include, but are not limited to, barring candidates from future testing and or cancelling your test

5.4. Results Publishing


Answer Keys and Test Scores of all the candidates will be published on the website, www.comedk.org. Clarifications, if any, should be sought within the dates stipulated. Subsequently the final result along with the Merit List will be published which will be binding on all candidates and no further claim would be entertained thereafter. (Please refer to the Calendar of Events for details.)
The test results will be published in two stages:

Test Score Publication Final Merit / Rank List Publication The Final Merit / Rank List will be sent to all the regulatory authorities.

Individual rank card will be sent to the eligible candidate/s only. The Rank List will also be made available at the COMEDK website, www.comedk.org

5.4.1. Test Score Publishing


Answer Keys of COMEDK PGET-2013 will be published on the website only late in the evening, on 03/02/2013. Clarifications to the answer keys, if any, should be sought between 04/02/2013 to 07/02/2013 (Communications received after 07/02/2013 will not be entertained). Test scores of COMEDK PGET-2013 will be published on 16/02/2013. Clarifications to the Test Scores, if any, should be sought between 17/02/2013 to 19/02/2013. (Communications received after 19/02/2013 will not be entertained). The Final Rank list will be published on 27/02/2013.

Applicants seeking any clarifications with regard to:


a. Clarification with regard to the Answer Key/s. (Ref: Appendix - II for format) have to write to COMEDK, clearly indicating the grievance and with all necessary enclosures in a prescribed format which can be downloaded from our website. Every answer key for which clarification is sought should reach to COMEDK Page 26 of 39

Any request for clarification of answer keys beyond the last date as stipulated in calendar of events will not be entertained. b. Test scores. (Ref: Appendix - III for format) for seeking clarification of Test Scores, a Demand Draft of Rs.250/- (Rupees Two Hundred Fifty) per candidate, drawn in favour of COMEDK, payable at Bangalore, should be enclosed. Only if the clarification sought is upheld, the money would be refunded in total after the COMEDK PGET 2013 process is completed. Any verifications / clarifications sought by the applicants will be put forth to the COMEDKs Academic Committee for their consideration and the decision given by the committee shall be final and binding on all. No further claims will be considered by COMEDK after the last date, as indicated above.

5.4.2. Final Merit / Rank List Publishing


The final merit / rank list is generated based on the performance in the entrance test and the same will be published on 27/02/2013.

Inter-se Merit:
Ties in the test scores, if any, will be resolved based on the following, in the order specified: The principle of least negative responses (Number of wrong answers). Number of additional attempts during the course of study, i.e., M.B.B.S. / B.D.S. Total aggregate percentage scored in the M.B.B.S. / B.D.S. exams The age of the candidate, the elder candidate is ranked higher than the younger candidate. In case of tie existing after exhausting in all of the above situations, merit will be based on random selection.

6. Centralized Counseling (Single window)


Detailed instructions relating to centralized counseling will be put on the website at a later date. In this regard the COMEDK website www.comedk.org is updated regularly. COMEDK suggests all candidates to visit it frequently for relevant information.

7. Biometrics Verification
Candidates intending to take the Post Graduate Entrance Test 2013 may be required to undergo biometric verification. (i) during the test (ii) during centralized counseling for seat selection (iii) at the college level, during the admission process. To ensure fairness to the merited students and to eliminate fraudulent attempts, it is planned to use Biometrics (Fingerprinting) at various stages of the process and this would be done at the discretion of COMEDK. COMEDK reserves the right to change (or) reset the Biometric Verification parameters at any time during the selection process. Any mismatch at any stage will automatically result in disqualification of the candidate and he/she will not be permitted to participate in any further process of seat selection and admission to PG course. 9. Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)


Q. What is the eligibility for the courses?

A. As prescribed by MCI / DCI, candidates who have passed their M.B.B.S. or B.D.S. from an institution recognised by MCI / DCI and have completed (or are expecting to complete their internship by 30/04/2013) are eligible for the courses. Candidate/s should also meet other requirements as prescribed by MCI / DCI.
Q. Is the Entrance Test open only to Karnataka students?

A. No, this test is open to all the eligible students in the country.
Q. Are candidates applying from outside the State of Karnataka eligible to get the benefit of lower eligibility qualifying marks?

A. Yes, All India SC / ST candidates only are eligible to get the benefit of lower eligible qualifying marks.

Q. When is the last date to apply?

A. All filled-in applications must reach the office of COMEDK on or before 10th January 2013 Thursday, by 5:00PM. Applications received after the stipulated date and time will be liable for rejection.
Q. What is the procedure of seat selection?

A. For the academic year 2013-2014, selection of seats for the Post Graduate courses in Member Institutions will be based on merit, taking into account the performance of the candidate in COMEDK PGET-2013, COMEDK entrance test & publication of test score and rank list will be followed by central counseling (Single window). The details of the arrangement made will be published in due course on our website, www.comedk.org.
Q. How will I know my test results?

A. The results will be intimated to all the eligible candidates individually. The same will also be available on our website www.comedk.org.
Q. If I have 5 clarifications in the answer key, then do I send a DD of Rs.500 or Rs.2500?

A. You have to send a DD of Rs.2500. (Rs.500 per clarification) along with the format (Appendix-II of Brochure)
Q. I want to seek clarification of my test score. Should I send a DD of Rs.250/-?

A. You have to send a DD of Rs.250. (Rs.250 per OMR sheet) along with the format (Appendix-III of Brochure)
Q. Would I get a refund for the amount, which I have sent along with my clarification/s?

Candidates belonging to SC / ST of All India and OBC of Karnataka would be considered, provided they furnish the duly attested Photocopy of the following Certificates: a. SC / ST : Caste Certificate issued by competent authority (Authorized to issue such a certificate but not below the rank of a Tahsildar) b. OBC: Category 1, 2A, 2B, 3A and 3B: As notified by the Karnataka Govt. Caste and Income Certificate issued by Tahsildar or higher revenue jurisdictional authority authorized to issue such a certificate. c. MINORITY : Religious (Christian) of All India / Linguistic (Tulu/Telugu) of Karnataka minority candidates have to produce certificate as per Appendix - V of Brochure (available on www.comedk.org) Candidates who have not produced appropriate supporting documents for claiming the status of Religious / Linguistic Minority / SC / ST / OBC are liable to be considered as General Merit Candidates. Note: Avoid stapling of Demand Draft to the application form, instead use clips. Any Application received by COMEDK without the required enclosures will be liable for rejection.
