Cybercrime law: an obstacle to advancement A law is created and implemented to impose order in a nation, but why could there

be a law that contradicts another law? It is absurd to have two laws contradict the former law. Cybercrime law should not be implemented because every individual has his/her right to freedom of speech, the law states that there should be no law that would abridge freedom of expression, and every individual has his/her right to privacy. Every individual has his/her rights to freedom of speech. Freedom of speech, according to the dictionary, is the right of a citizen to speak or communicate, online or offline, without the fear of harm or prosecution. If the government implements the cybercrime law, the citizens freedom of speech would be under surveillance thus, limiting their freedom of speech. Limiting the citizens freedom of speech would make our country create robot-like-people, where each individual can not express or say what each individual thinks. During the presidency of Cory Aquino, a law was created about freed of expression which states that there should be no law that would abridge freedom of expression. Cybercrime law, when implemented, would forbid the citizen to express their idea, emotions, and comments to whatever they see in the internet for as it may lead to conflicts and ca attack an individual. The idea of cybercrime law, that is, to forbid the citizens to express their idea is illegal because of the law that Cory Aquino created that protected the freedom of the citizens whether in the internet or not. The cybercrime law being illegal, therefore, should not be implemented. Creating such law that is against another law would tell the citizens that it is alright to oppose a law and would come to the citizens minds that the government system is ridiculous. Every individual has hi/her right to privacy. Cybercrime law states that the government would be allowed to know what a person is doing and all his/her statues as indicated in his/her online social media will be monitored. The privacy of a citizen is very personal. It is something that a person does not invade without a reason and approval of the owner. Privacy is respected, no questions asked. Invading the privacy of another individual is unethical, it is like reading another persons mail. With the reason of the invasion of privacy, cybercrime law should not be implemented. Yes, all of the arguments are true but the government is only doing this to protect the people. According to the website of TV5, interaksyon.com, the cybercrime prevention act of 2012, also known as republic act 10175, may aim to bring crime-fighting into the twenty-first century by addressing harmful acts committed with the use of worldwide web but it raises the risk of rights violation and curtailment of freedom of expression and of the press by expanding the concept of the criminalized act of libel. The law raises the penal sentence for libel committed in cybercrime one year longer that that imposed on the revised penal code for libel in general.( http://interaksyon.com/article/44546/cybercrimelaw-may-put-philippines-in-more-trouble-with-un-for-curtailing-press-freedom')

For these reasons, the cybercrime law should not be implemented because the government contradicts with itself, this would draw to the peoples mind that the government is a complete loco. The cybercrime law limits the people, as to their freedom of speech. The exertion of the peoples freedom of speech will lead advancement to the country and would start a new evolution that would path our way to the top. So if you want your life to be controlled by the government, agree with it. Otherwise act now and change other peoples mind because the people are the countrys power.
