StateStandards: Geometry 7.G Drawconstruct,anddescribegeometricalfiguresanddescribetherelationshipsbetweenthem. 1.Solveproblemsinvolvingscaledrawingsofgeometricfigures,includingcomputingactuallengthsand areasfromascaledrawingandreproducingascaledrawingatadifferentscale. 2.Draw(freehand,withrulerandprotractor,andwithtechnology)geometricshapeswithgiven conditions.Focusonconstructingtrianglesfromthreemeasuresofanglesorsides,noticingwhenthe conditionsdetermineauniquetriangle,morethanonetriangle,ornotriangle.

Methods:
AnticipatorySet:Thisclasswillbeacontinuancefromthematerialpreviouslytaught.Iwillbeginclass withreviewingthelessonfromthepreviousdaybycreatingalistofalltheparallelogramswehave studied. Oncealistisproducedthestudentswillbeinstructedtochoosethreedifferentparallelogramsand createwordwebstodescribetheuniquenessofeachshapeandwhatdefinesthem.Thiswillinclude studentsusingthepropervocabularyandformulasthatareusedtoidentifyeachparallelogram. Thethreeparallelogramsthatarechosenwillbethemaincharactersoftheirstories.Theywillneedto createastorylinethatcreatesaclearunderstandingofhoweachparallelogramisuniqueandshowthe connectionbetweenangles,linesanddiagonals. Thehomeworkwillbetofinishwritingtheirstoryline.Wewillgoovertheminclassthenextdayand starttopublishthestoriessotheycanlaterjoina4thor5thgradeclassroomtosharetheirstorieswith.

AssessmentofStudent(s) Theobjectiveisforstudentstomakeconnectionstocharacterizeparallelograms.Oncetheyhave completedtheirstories,Iwillbeabletoassesstheirunderstanding.IfIseethattherearestudentswho arenotquitemakingthoseconnections,Iwilleithergobackandreviewthematerialdifferentlyorhave themworkinpairstoseeifstudentswillgetanunderstandingbasedoffhowtheirpeersunderstandthe material.
