DCS500 / 600 DC Drives

1. CURRENT LIFE CYCLE STATUS The DCS500 / 600 drive product is in the classic phase of the ABB drives life cycle plan and is planned to remain in this phase until end of year 2013. 2. SUPPORT AVAILABILITY During the classic phase the product will be fully supported and maintained by ABB regardless of which manufacturing unit delivered the product. During this phase ABB will also offer a full set of services for the product, including, but not limited to: spare parts and repair services (new and refurbished parts and electronics repair) training services technical support and on-site support services preventive maintenance services to minimize effects of aging of components and to maximize reliability upgrade services to increase output and to extend the life cycle Re-manufacturing and overhaul capabilities on request, providing opportunities to purchase complete modules for expansion projects or for spare part purposes. 3. LIFE CYCLE PLAN The DCS500 /600 drive product is planned to be transferred to the limited phase from 2014 on. In this life cycle phase ABB does not guarantee availability of all the services anymore and hence recommends that DCS500 / 600 end-users initiate a migration planning to new ABB drive technology by 2017, when the product is planned to be transferred into the obsolete phase. In the obsolete phase the product support is contingent to component availability and spare part deliveries are limited to the existing stock. 4. FURTHER INFORMATION The support of the commissioning software DDC-Tool and GAD-Tool as well as of the hardware adapter SNAT624 is limited during this life cycle phase. Redesign of adapter hardware or software updates that would be needed to fulfil hardware requirements of the current notebook generation will be not tackled. To run software programs like DDC-Tool, CMTDDC500 or GAD tool its mandatory to have an old notebook with interfaces like PCIMCA (PC Card Socket for SNAT624) and LPT1 (parallel port for security device of GAD). The recommended operating system for this notebook is Windows 2000 or Windows XP. For further information, please contact ABB by e-mail: global.productsupport@fi.abb.com.
