Ship sizes from 9,000 to 40,000 DWT Unloading capacity up to 600 tph Pneumatic unloading direct to storage Stationary or mobile units Diesel or electrically driven
Sized to fit
180 TPH
Pneumatic unloaders are available in various capacity ranges depending on the size of the terminal in question. The 180 tph Kovako Road-Mobile Unloader is an excellent solution for small vessels.
300 TPH
For medium sized terminals the 300 tph pneumatic unloader offers a competitive solution for rail-mounted, dock-mobile or barge-mounted configurations.
425 TPH
Terminals with a high throughput require a high capacity shipunloader. The 425 tph pneumatic unloader caters for this need and various configurations are available.
600 TPH
The top of the line pneumatic unloader has a throughput of 600 tph. To make optimum use of this large unloader, the railmounted version is the preferred solution.
Using a remote control unit, the operator directs the movements of the suction arm. The material is mixed with air at the suction nozzle and vacuumed into the suction pipeline. The 360 degrees rotation of the 3rd arm section enables it to reach into all corners of the hold. The mixture of material and air is vacuumed through the suction air pipeline to the filter tank. Air and material are separated inside the filter tank. The material then drops down into one of the two transfer tanks. The transfer tanks alternate between being filled with material and being blown empty. The air used for the vacuum conveying process is cleaned by high efficiency filters in the filter tank. The vacuum pumps that provide the air for the vacuum conveying process are located in a machine room on the unloader. The compressors for the conveying process are located in a machine room on the unloader or on the quay as shown. The compressed air passes via a pipeline and a rubber hose connection to the ship unloader. The compressed air is mixed with the material in the transfer tank. The material is conveyed to the storage through the rubber hose connection and the pipeline on shore. The whole unloading process is fully automatic and interfaced with the control system of the storage facility.
A lightweight radio or cableconnected remote control enables the operator to choose a position that provides an ideal view of the suction nozzle.

Made to match
Rail-mounted unloaders
Large pneumatic unloaders come in various configurations to match specific unloading situations. A rail-mounted unloader moves easily and quickly alongside the ship, allowing a high through-the-ship unloading rate.
Dock-mobile unloaders
In cases where there are no rails available or the unloader cannot be located permanently on the quay, a dock-mobile unloader is an excellent solution. Dock-mobile unloaders are either selfpropelled or pulled by a front-end loader.
Barge-mounted unloaders
In cases where no suitable dock facilities are available or the unloader is to be used at several terminals, a barge-mounted pneumatic unloader is the ideal solution. Complete accessibility of the entire hold without repositioning the barge and an easy rubber hose onshore connection are significant advantages offered by this type of unloader.
Floating terminals
Dock-mobile support system for large pneumatic unloader: hydraulic stabilisers distribute the equipment load directly onto the quay. hydraulic propulsion and steering allow easy movement of the unloader.
The versatile concept of the pneumatic ship unloader coupled with the experience and capability of Kovako Materials Handling offers the end user a wide range of applications and solutions.
