What is meant by motor selection is to calculate how much torque is required from the
motor.
1. establish Motion Objectives (The most Important Step)
Maximum velocity = 1.6 inch/sec
Acceleration time (Ramp ) =0.32 sec
Operate at maximum velocity for 5 seconds.
Deceleration time = 0.32 sec
Immediate reverse operation
Operate continuously
2. calculate the critical move parameters
a. maximum angular speed

b. Maximum Acceleration rate
3. calculate inertia of all moving components
