DAVE HARTLAUB, Conestoga Valley
Under the guidance of Hartlaub, the Buckskins whose program had never advanced past the District Three quarterfinals put together the best season in CV history. After capturing the Section One title for the second straight year, the Buckskins returned to the L-L final before losing to Lancaster Mennonite for the second season in a row. The real highlights came after that, with Hartlaub coaching CV to the first District Three Class AAA title in program history and a spot in the PIAA Class AAA championship game. Following the season, Hartlaub was named the Pennsylvania Soccer Coaches Association Class AAA Coach of the Year.

NATE DELGADO, Conestoga Valley

The most dynamic player in the league, Delgado scored 33 goals to go with 13 assists to become the all-time leading goal scorer in Conestoga Valley boys soccer history this fall. Thanks in large part to the senior strikers unyielding work ethic in the attacking third, the Buckskins won a second straight Section One title, advanced to the L-L nal for the second consecutive year, captured the schools rst District Three Class AAA championship and earned a spot in the PIAA Class AAA boys soccer nal for the rst time in program history. Delgado, who nished his career with 57 goals and 20 assists, was named to the Pennsylvania Soccer Coaches Association State Player of the Year and the All-Region II and All-America teams.

RACHEL SUTER, Penn Manor & LIZ WENGER, Warwick
A prolic scorer and dominant player in the mideld, Rachel Suter, left, nished the season with 37 goals and 20 assists. She led the Comets to their seventh straight Section One title and fourth L-L League crown in the past ve seasons. Suter, who scored 63 goals and had 37 assists for her career, will attend Liberty University on an athletic scholarship. Rachel is a great goal-scorer and also a tough defender, said Penn Manor coach Matt Soto. She is also a great team leader, both vocally and by example. Perhaps the most interesting thing to know about Liz Wenger is that she chose to play scholastic eld hockey instead of girls soccer, but will play soccer in college, earning an athletic scholarship to Georgetown. A dominant midelder often charged with marking an opponents top player, Wenger nished the season with modest totals of 10 goals and 11 assists and career totals of 26 goals and 36 assists. She was a calming inuence and the go-to player, one with dynamic skills and speed. What makes Liz such a great player is her physical ability of strength, quickness, and especially speed, said Warwick coach Bob Derr. But most of all, her ability to read the play and anticipate where the next pass is going gave her the ability to intercept passes and also make the right pass into dangerous spaces to a teammate.

Football Player of the Year

CHARLIE BELL
Sr., Penn Manor Running Back 161-1,407 yards, 22 TDs

MARK PYLES, Lebanon

Its not often you see a quarterback playing linebacker. Or viceversa. Which goes to show how rare and unique an athlete Lebanon senior Mark Pyles is. Called by Cedars head coach Gerry Yonchiuk a coach on the eld, the LLs leading passer (185-308-2,824 yards, 32 TDs, 11 Ints.) was also the leagues leading tackler (139 stops, 70 solo, 5 sacks, 2 fumbles caused, 2 fumble recoveries). A thousand-yard rusher, Pyles led the Cedars in that category as well (214-1,084, 5.1, 16 TDs). He totaled 3,908 yards of offense and 48 TDs while averaging 99 yards rushing per game and 256 passing. He keyed one of the more notable turnarounds in recent L-L football history by leading the Cedars to a 7-4 record and rst-ever Class AAAA playoff appearance one year after they went 0-10. A Bucknell recruit, Pyles is tops in his class academically, owning a 4.60 weighted GPA.

JEREMY DE LA CRUZ

JON FOX
So., Wilson Defensive Back 71 tackles, 3 Ints.

Football Coach of the Year

DOUG DAHMS, Wilson
Wilsons football program was predicted by some in the preseason to be down this season. The Bulldogs were supposed to loosen their hold on LancasterLebanon League Section One. Guess what? Someone forgot to tell Dahms. The Bulldog boss quietly rebuilt one of the mid-states perennial powers, coaching a mix of underclassmen and veterans to a perfect 10-0 regular season and a sixthstraight Section One title. Wilson eventually won its first 12 games before bowing out in the District Three Class AAA semifinals/state playoff opener.

Girls Soccer Player of the Year

The consensus choice as repeat Player of the Year, Cedar Crests Haleigh Echard, left in photo, posted a 27-point season for the Falcons. While her goal production dropped off proportionally to the increased production of teammate Gabby Boehmer, Echards assist total was right on target with her career average. Her nine goals and nine assists gave her a career total of 32 goals and 28 assists. Echard missed the Falcons charge to a second-consecutive L-L League title when she participated in a week-long training camp for the U.S. Under-18 Womens National Team. While she awaits her fate on the national roster, she continues to train in preparation for playing under scholarship at Penn State.

JEREMY ADAMS, Elizabethtown
Shaking off graduation losses that included All-League forward and league scoring leader Erin Sollenberger and Section Two First Team keeper Taylor Reinhold, Adams blended his returning veterans with an infusion of youth. The elixir proved potent as the Bears outdistanced the rest of a tumultuous, five-team Section Two mashup to nail down the section title with an 11-1-2 record, five points ahead of runner-up, and defending champion, Cocalico.

One. The Hempeld girls volleyball team was the only team or individual to capture a state championship among the Lancaster County teams that engaged in fall sports in 2013. The Black Knights repeated as gold medalists, defeating Cumberland Valley in the Class AAA title match, 3-2. Hempeld rebounded from a defeat to Cumberland Valley in the District Three title game to win the state gold. T h e B l a c k Knights comprised E l i z a D o n o hue, Anna W e n g e r, Kayla Gromen, Allie Stolz, Maria Yoder, Alecia R o h r e r, Bri Tank- Leigha Martin e s l e y , Veritas Academy Marrisa Wonders, Karissa Dzurik, Ashley Oleksa, Sonia Musso, Addie Parsons, Jessica Zellers, Aryn Dubosky, Katrina Shelly, and Stephanie Laidien. Several teams approached PIAA gold but just missed grabbing it. The Conestoga Valley boys soccer team came the closest, falling to Upper St. Clair in the state AAA nal. The Pequea Valley boys soccer team had title hopes, too, but bowed to Holy Ghost Prep in the AA seminals. Like the CV boys, the Penn Manor eld hockey team made a deep run at states but fell short of gold, falling to Lower Dauphin, 5-2 in a seminal game. The Annville-Cleona boys cross country team took 13th in

the AA state run and Manheim Central was 15th. In girls cross country, Veritas Academy freshman Leigha Martin nished 10th in the PIAA Class A run in a time of 20:00. Penn Manors Greta Lindsley was 35th (19:48) in AAA and Lancaster Catholics Rosemary Tuzzino was 39th in AA. The Manheim Township golf team placed fourth the PIAA AAA Tournament with the Blue Streaks Ryan Dornes placing fourth among AAA golfers. Solancos Connor Sheehan was tied for 12th in the AAA eld and Hempelds Javon Trout was tied for 18th. Mount Calvarys Noah Firestone placed seventh in the AA tournament and Manheim Centrals Haley Goodling nished eighth in the AAA girls tournament. Manheim Central advanced to the District Three Class AAA title game in football but fell to Bishop McDevitt. The game was also a PIAA AAA quarternal game. As for the rest of the District Three championships, Lancaster County made a sizable haul. Manheim Centrals Haley Goodling took home the AA prize in the district girls golf tournament and Veritas Academys Leigha Martin won the Class A girls cross country run. Team district titles went to the Conestoga Valley (AAA) and Pequea Valley (AA) boys soccer. Manheim Township (AAA) and Lancaster Catholic (AA) won team titles in girls tennis and the Manheim Township boys won the AAA title in golf. Also, Dayspring Christian claimed the rst district title in school history by winning the Class A girls volleyball tournament.
