Good afternoon, honourable guests, principal, vice principals, teachers

and fellow schoolmates.

I’m very honoured to be here and speak on behalf of all Form 5 and
Form 7 graduates. Today is an important day for all of us because after
today we are going to leave the school and start a new chapter in our
lives. But before we leave TYT and go our separate ways, I would like to
take a few moments to show our gratitude to all the people who have
been working so hard to get us here.

It was the period of life exploration for us during the past few years. We
really needed someone who can enlighten us and assist us to find
ourselves. We are so fortunate that TYT provides us with a group of
caring, diligent, enthusiastic, and professional teachers.

It is absolutely stressful and worrying to face the public examinations.

However, we are very lucky to have teachers who will lend us their
sympathetic ears even when they are busy marking papers or
preparing lessons. They will unreservedly spend their time solving
whatever problems we may have. They are always there to support us
and give us timely guidance.

It is natural for us to face obstacles and get depressed during the

course of our lives and we may sometimes want to take the easy way
out, but our teachers taught us that perseverance is the only way to
pave for our success and build our character.

Very often, we may doubts about ourselves and wonder what our
future will be like. Again, it is our teachers who inspire us, comfort us in
our souls and get us excited about our future. They let us know that
everyone can be successful one day. I strongly believe that” If
someone can do it, so can we.”

Although we might not remember all the things that our teachers have
taught us, we will always appreciate their devotion and commitment.
We will always remember that they love us because of who we are.
Their enthusiasm alone commands our greatest respect. They are
certainly our valuable mentors who deserve the deepest appreciation
from the bottom of our hearts. May I say a big thank you to all the
teachers who may or may not have taught us before for your patience
and care. (applause)

Apart from teachers, all the non-teaching staffs in TYT, including the
clerks, the technicians and the janitors definitely deserve our praise.
Without their help, we would not have such a beautiful and well-
organized school in which we can enjoy our school lives.

In the past 5 or 7 years, not only were we offered devoted teachers, we

also knew what is meant by “One was born to be useful somehow.” Our
school gave us a magnitude of chances to explore our potentials and
helped us to develop our potentials to the full.

For example, we can participate and show our talents at some of the
major events in TYT like Sports Day, Charity Carnival, Music Contest
and so on. We can broaden our horizons by joining study tours to other
places. We can enhance our social responsibilities while serving in
different community groups like the Hong Kong Young Ambassador,
Red Cross, Girl Guides or so.

Through these activities, we’ve acquired different skills like leadership,

communication and the importance of cooperation. We’ve made new friends from
different backgrounds; we’ve learnt to appreciate and celebrate
different cultures; and above all, we’ve learnt to use our knowledge,
talent and passion to contribute to the society.

In TYT, we can enjoy a plentiful of learning resources, wonderful study

environment and various activities, the contribution of our principal,
Mr. Cheung, is worth our appreciation. We are very thankful to our
principal for his vision and commitment to make our school such a
warm, open and well-known school in Tuen Mun.

Throughout these years in TYT, I’ve also made lots of friends. We came
from diverse backgrounds; each and every one of us is a unique
individual with different personalities. But, we studied and played
together; we raced against each other in examinations, competitions;
we shared our ups and downs and supported each other; we’ve learnt
a great deal from our friends.

I truly believe that the friends we met in TYT will be the ones who
accompany us for the rest of our lives and our friendship is the purest,
precious, and ever-lasting. The memories in the school which we hold
close to our hearts will make us smile when we think of them. As we
graduate from TYT, we might have very different future or we might
not be seeing each other as often as we used to be. However, I do
hope you can still remember the time we’ve had together in TYT.

It’s definitely sad to say goodbye here. I believe all the graduates in
2009 are actually embarking on their new journey in life. The future is
in our hands but there’s something that we mustn’t forget – to share
our love with others, to respect others with your heart, to be diligent
always and to be honest to yourself.

Finally, I wish all of you good luck, good health and all the best! Thank
you very much. (applause)

Our Student Union has prepared a slide show for us. Let us recap some
of the fantastic moments with our friends, teachers and parents during
the past year.
