Abstract: Barkati Syeds live in Marehra (UP) in India. They belong to Qadri order and are
admired for the historical relics, duas and urs that are part of the sufi practices of the
family. Shah Abul Husain Nuri Mian was a famous sufi of this family. He was born in
1255 hijri. After the demise of his parents, his pir and grandfather Shah Al-e Rasul took
care of him and developed him as a sufi master. Nuri Mian was a great lover of his pir and
followed his footsteps. Nuri Mian had close relations with Shah Abdul Qadir Badayuni
and Maulana Ahmad Raza Khan Barelvi. Nuri Mian passed away in 1906. His urs is held
every year at Marehra according to the sufi practices of the family.
