REACTION PAPER ON THE MOVIE JOHN Q.

John Quincy Archibald, or popularly known as John Q., was a loving father and sweet husband who has a son diagnosed with cardiomegaly. John Q., unacceptably encountered hardship(s towards the current health condition of his only son, named !ichael, and desperately seeking immediate medical care to "aymond #urner, a physician, whom he bounded his anger and despair on !ichael$s health crises, whose life was definitely at stake. %n the midst of being hopeless and ambivalent, he decided to do something (as strongly commanded by his wife , forcefully and helplessly, to prevent his son being released on the hospital upon being caught on a financial deadline. &e came up with an idea of taking hostages and pulled out crime at his fate.

'iterally, on my own understanding, % had identified that the ma(or conflict on the plot of the story was the agonist, John Archibald, on being fi)ated towards his demand by desperately putting his son$s name on the recipient$s list towards heart transplantation and also, by not accepting the failed coverage of surgery from his health insurance by &!*. &ealth !aintenance *rgani+ation (&!* , as defined, is an organi+ation which provides, organi+es, and manages health care via health insurance, or self, funded health care benefits and plans with health care providers on a prepaid basis. John, slightly being selfish by neglecting on how health insurances operates, processes, or utili+es health management resources through radically stereotyping or labelling this organi+ation as being merciless, inhumane, and unworthy in offering easily health aid, without the mere influence of e)ternal factors such as health policies, regulations, and amendments, on tragic times. -ith .r. #urner and his co,administrator, "ebecca /ayne, did not fully comprehend John on how health insurances works, its risks, and conse0uences that might happen if it comes short in terms of coverage towards health operation and of course, as health care professionals, being a change agent into an advocate to John and his family, they might stressed their role by providing health education towards financial management of patient care. !oreover, hospitals were basically health businesses with monetary involvement, through investments, selling health services, and this, health insurances wherein it is governed on production, distribution, and consumption, by the public as end users, of health services through cost care.

&ence, in the last scenes of the movie, % withheld the opinion of Jimmy /alumbo, a close friend of John, as he emphasi+ed that on this reality, we must maintain, nurture, and strengthen our values even if what circumstances will be. 1es, values may combat all those frustrations and depression by trust to oneself, desperation by peaceful mind and conscience, hopeless and helpless by strong faith in 2od, and despair by care, love of humanity, and self, worthy. -hatever trials, trespasses, and shortcomings that 2od had given us, we must take in control and be optimistic onto everything that John, for e)ample, had undergone, even if his intention(s were good and indulge patriotism, still, we are human beings that must stick to what is right and wrong, not (ust to ourselves, but also in the eyes of 2od. John, for me, was still a loving husband and really did become selfless onto his love for !ichael as he willingly sacrificed himself to put an end to his life that, in contrast, would save his son$s life, however, it is a desperate call for a desperate man to act selfless love that is certainly forbidden to us by 2od. %t is a near forth of a happy ending of the story yet John was convicted to crime by saying guilty to kidnapping but he$s contentedly happy for his happiness, that is certainly the key to success of his son$s life.
