December 2013 Dear Friend, Greetings to you on behalf of everyone at the church. It's hristmas time again! "lthough most #eo#le are stressed out by $hat gift is a##ro#riate for $hich relative, $e hristians already have received the greatest gift the $orld has ever %no$n& God's only begotten 'on, (esus hrist. )one other gift holds the #o$er God's gift holds. It $as given $ith such loving care and thoughtful #ur#ose that it can fit every life, no matter ho$ bro%en by sin or hurt by circumstances. *his gift of love and grace reaches do$n to the de#th of human des#air and scales the highest mountain of human accom#lishments. +et the #o$er of God's gift encom#asses every living soul, to bring life through the Gos#el! *his gift of grace and mercy reached do$n to a $oman in our congregation the other day. 'he had been sic% for $ee%s. 'hingles turned into an infection and she ,ust felt lousy. -n 'unday morning she determined to get out of bed and come to the house of God no matter $hat. 'he %ne$ that if she could get into .is #resence she $ould feel better. *he singing began and she entered into the $orshi#. *hen the /ord of God came and she received that 0read of 1ife, (esus hrist. It $as fresh manna from heaven to her soul! 'he came to the altar after the #reaching and received #rayer and the 1ord touched her and strengthened her so much she $as able to come bac% in the evening service and testify of .is goodness to$ards her! I %no$ there are times $e ,ust can't come to church, but sometimes $e give u# before our eyes even o#en. 'ometimes $e ,ust have to be good and stubborn and #ut forth the effort. It is at those times of $ea%ness that the 1ord becomes our strength. It is at those lo$ times in life that (esus hrist is e2alted above everything. /hen our mind says, 3)o,4 to the things of God it is then $e must change that saying to, 3+es!4 *his reminds me of ho$ determined 5ary, the mother of (esus, must have been to fulfill the 'cri#tures. God #ut into her heart the desire to bring forth the 5essiah. It $as her dream, her ho#e, and her motivation in life. 'he %ne$ she $as destined to do something great in this life, yet her surroundings $ere humble. 'he lived several miles north of 0ethlehem, so I $onder if thoughts came to her mind that said to her there $as no $ay she $ould be the

one. 0ut isn't it strange ho$ God had .is hand on her life and ho$ .e moved an ungodly %ing to levy a ta2 that $ould u#set every family in Israel6 *his ta2 burden actually #aved the $ay for our 'avior to come into the $orld, fulfilling 'cri#tures! 7very (e$ish #erson $as taught that their 5essiah $ould be born in 0ethlehem, but here she $as in )a8areth! *he 1ord sent an angel all the $ay to her modest home, an out of the $ay location that no one, not even she, $ould sus#ect God $ould use. Did you ever feel that $ay, that not even God $ould use you because of your surroundings and circumstances6 0ut the mighty arch9 angel Gabriel stood in her home one night and told her the glad tidings that she had found favor $ith God! 5ary as%ed him ho$ this miracle could be, because she $asn't married. 3And the angel answered and said unto her The Holy Ghost shall come upon thee, and the power of the Highest shall overshadow thee: therefore that holy thing which shall be born of thee shall be called the Son of God 4 :Luke :!";. If 5ary needed the .oly Ghost to come u#on her to fulfill the 'cri#tures ho$ much more do $e6 *his is $hy I go to church& to get into .is #resence so .e can overshado$ me to hel# me do $hat .e called me to do. /hen the angel finished e2#laining these things to her, 5ary sim#ly said, 3#ehold the handmaid of the Lord$ be it unto me according to thy word 4 :Luke :!%;. *he things that $ould soon ta%e #lace in her life had never ha##ened to anyone before. *his acce#tance of the $ill of God changed her $hole life right there. /hen the ta2ing $as announced, she %ne$ e2actly $hat she needed to do& go $ith (ose#h to 0ethlehem. 'he %ne$ that $hile he $as #aying his ta2es she $ould bring forth the hrist. /hat a glorious 1ord $e serve! .e %no$s every detail from the beginning to the end. "ll $e need to do is yield to .is directions, li%e 5ary did. /ho %no$s $hat God's #lans and thoughts are to$ards you6 I do %no$ this, though& .e loves you and $ill $or% all things together for good to those $ho yield to .is $ill and love .im!
