Some of the areas where we experience this are: Housing and building materials e.g. new types of bricks, paints, glass, ceramic tiles, wood laminates Farming e.g. agrochemicals, pesticides, organic farming. Food storage e.g. use of deep freezers, refrigerators Packaging of food products and use of preser ati es in packaged foods !lectricity " generation and supply. #ommunication " telephone, internet, computers !ntertainment, news and updates $weather, stock markets etc% on tele ision, radio &eaching aids and education 'ater management including a ailability of drinking water after purification by () Fuels including piped cooking gas &ransport including tra el by ehicles, metro ser ices, trains and air. 2. With the ever changing scenario in the electronic industry, discuss the changes that you / your family have experienced in using household appliances. Household appliances ha e become more user+friendly and energy efficient. ,any appliances ha e digital displays which are easy to read, instructions are also in the form of displays. Household appliances with 3S) and 4!! certification ha e made it safe for us to use the appliances and ha e also reduced electricity consumption. Some gadgets are lighter and compact and hence easier to carry, install and store when not re5uired. . !xplain the role and scope of generic and herbal drugs in a country li"e ours where modern and ancient medicines co#exist in the mar"et and the choices made by people. 3n a de eloping country like 3ndia, nearly 67 percent of the population use traditional and home+made remedies for treatment. 2rugs that do not need a patent protection for production and marketing are called generic drugs. &hese drugs contain the same acti e ingredient as the original drug and are hence as effecti e. 8eneric drugs are much cheaper than patent drugs and are also easily a ailable. 8eneric drugs, hence, allow greater access to health care at a reasonable cost. 3n 3ndia, there is a tradition of herbal medicines called Ayurvedic medicines. Herbal medicines are now easily a ailable in the market. ,any people use herbal medicines as they are effecti e and usually do not ha e side+effects. 0atural products are also being used to synthesize certain medicines which can pre ent disease and treat common ailments. !xamples of herbal and natural medicines are Pudinhara, #hya anprash, 3sabgol. &he medicines which do not fall in the category of allopathic drugs are called alternati e medicines. &he 8o ernment of 3ndia has encouraged research in the field of alternati e medicines by setting up the 2epartment of -9:SH $ Ayurveda, Unani, Siddha, Homeopathy%.

Social net+working sites should be isited with caution. People tend to use the mobile phone constantly/ use of headphones while crossing roads*railway tracks has lead to many accidents and e en death. 2ri ing while talking on the mobile phone distracts the dri er.s mind and can be dangerous.
