BPI BarSplicer XP
DESCRIPTION The BPI BARSPLICER XP is a Xtra Performance threaded rebar mechanical splice system, which utilizes STANDARD ROLLED threads on the rebars. The system is suitable as a DOWEL BAR REPLACEMENT DBR and for splicing deformed reinforcing bars manufactured to ASTM A615 or equivalent specification.

SPLICE BAR D L NAIL FLANGE, 2"x2"

The coupler, which forms part of the BPI BARSPLICER XP System, is comprised of a threaded steel sleeve with a nail flange and is supplied to your project pre-assembled to the setting bar. Rebars conform to ASTM A615 Grade 60 or ASTM A615M Grade 420 and are quality controlled to exceed code specifications. In the field, the splice bar is rotated to complete the connection. Thread lengths are controlled so that the threads engage as required into the coupler. Rebars are ready for placement when they arrive on the job site, thereby saving time and field labor.

APPLICATIONS AND BENEFITS

For Department of Transportation projects, or similar, governed by special requirements for strength, slip-value, cyclic performance, stress reversal or fatigue. When designing with PRE-PLANNED mechanical splices, threaded couplers are a natural choice. By specifying BPI BARSPLICER XP, overall constructibility can be improved. When you use the BPI Barsplicer XP System, the injurious and impeding effects of protruding dowel bars at construction joints are avoided. Upon assembly, structural continuity is established across construction joints. Mechanical splices do not involve welding. There are no bar chemistries to determine; no weld qualification procedures; no pre-heat or post-heat requirements, no radiographs, no risk of burns and accidental fires.
Improve Job Site Safety. Eliminate Obstructing and Protruding Dowels. Positive Mechanical Connection. Assemble in any weather, No fumes. No heat. No heavy or special equipment in the field. Use suitable standard wrenches to "snug" threads. No torque wrench required or special torque. Adaptable to special applications.

PERFORMANCE
The installed BPI Barsplicer XP System not only exceeds the 125 percent x specified yield strength requirement for full mechanical connections specified by AASHTO, ACI 318 and the Uniform Building Code, but also develops the higher service splice requirements of CalTrans and exceeds 90 percent x specified ultimate strength of ASTM A615 Grade 60 or ASTM A615M Grade 420. By virtue of the use of rolled threads, the BPI BARSPLICER XP provides Xtra Performance, where needed, for applications involving high stress reversal or fatigue protocols.
