Book 21 1.

Odysseus reveals himself to Philoetius and Eumaeus in order to test them to see if their loyoalty is reliable or not, afterwards he decided he formulate a plan to kill the suitors with the help of Philoetius and Eumaeus. 2. Telemachus, Eurymachos, and Antinous all failed in an effort to string the bow. The only exception was Telemachus because he was signaled by Odysseus to restrain from stringing the bow. 3. Penelope intervenes in order to allow the beggar, Odysseus to try stringing the bow. This is a significant event for the story because the time comes when Odysseus reveals himself as the king of Ithica. 4. Antinous didnt want the beggar, Odysseus to take the archery test because he was afraid that the beggar has the slightest chance to string that bow and that it would hurt everyones pride and insult their strengths if a beggar was able to string it and the suitors werent able to. 5. I think Penelope thinks that no one will be able to string the bow except Odysseus himself and that the suitors will just give in. Penelope hopes the beggar will win. Book 22 6. The suitor Odysseus killed first was Antinous because he examined his actions when he was in disguise and came to a conclusion that Antinous was the most evil and corrupted suitors that needed to die first. 7. I think that Eurymachus analysis of the blame on Antinous was they the suitors treated her horribly and that they feasted inside Odysseus home for all those years. Odysseus response was that he will kill each and every one of them because they invaded his kingdom and trying to steal his wife. 8. The details that made the fight scene vivid were Odysseus shooting 2 arrows at Antinous. Philoetius has locked the front door and Eumaeus locked the other door. In addition, Athena, disguised as a mentor encouraged Odysseus and to test his strengths. 9. The disloyal servants, sum of 12, had to drag the bodies of the suitors outside and clean the halls Book 23 10. in order to hang them. The suitors didnt even deserve to get cut in pieces. 11. Penelop tested Odysseuss claim that he was the real Odysseus by asking him if he knows the secret about the bed carved out of olive trees that the one and only Odysseus has shared with Penelope. 12. Penelope is cautious because he was gone for 20 years and she believes her eyes are fooling her. In addition, she thinks it might be a god/goddess trying to disguise as Odysseus. Book 24 13. Odysseus exhibits the quality prideful hero finally returning to his faithful wife after 20 years.

14. Odysseus chose to test Laertes and decides not to run to him because he wanted to put his loyalty to the test. 15. Zeus was consulted by Athena if it is his will for Odysseus to be killed by Eupeithes as a revenge for killing his son, Antinous. Zeus told him that peace can only come if Odysseus is accepted as the true king. 16. I think Athena brought peace to Ithaca by appearing in front of the citizens and telling them to stop fighting and made peace between Odysseus and the citizens. 17. How Homer ended the story was perfect, it wasnt rushed and it was concluded nicely. If I were writing the story Id make it easier to understand while using the old language and reduce the size of the prologue.
