Migrate Data to TEMS CellPlanner 7.

1 from previous version

6.0.x/6.1.x/6.2.x and 7.0.x
Files of other format then XML can not be migrated.

Older project XML files are not supported. You must contact TEMS support for help if you are migrating
from TEMS CellPlanner 5.x.

Do not uninstall TEMS CellPlanner 5.x before contacting support.

Before Migrating to New Software Version

The following information needs to be considered before you migrate from a previous version of TEMS
CellPlanner to the new software.

Previous Data in Database

If your projects are stored in a database, a number of actions must be taken to not lose your data at
migration to a new version of TEMS CellPlanner software. Follow the instructions in TEMS Cellplanner
Installation Guide on page 8-6.

Previous Data in Project Files

If your projects are stored as project files without a database, a number of actions must be taken to not
lose your data at migration to a new version of TEMS CellPlanner software. Follow the instructions in
TEMS Cellplanner Installation Guide on page 8-4.

Previous Server Software

You must install the same TEMS CellPlanner version in the server as in the client.

Previous License Server

If a license server is already installed with a previous version of TEMS CellPlanner Universal 5.0 or later,
or TEMS CellPlanner 7.0 or later, you do not have to re-install it.

Previous Dongle Driver

If a dongle driver is already installed with an earlier version of TEMS CellPlanner 5.0 or later, you do not
have to re-install it.
Previous License File

Customers with a license from a TEMS CellPlanner version older than 7.0 must acquire and load a new
license file. See "Acquire Stand-Alone License (Optional)" on page 4-12 and "Load Stand-Alone License
(Optional)" on page 4-1 in TEMS Cellplanner Installation Guide.

Migrate Project Files to New Software Version

Use the procedure in this section to migrate projects stored as project files to a new version of TEMS
CellPlanner software.

The actions must be taken to not lose your data at upgrade to new version of TEMS CellPlanner
software.

The projects are migrated by export of project data from the old software version, and import the project
data to the new software version. See the TEMS CellPlanner Common Features User’s Guide for detailed
procedures on importing and exporting data.

Preparations

1. Reserve time for the migration. The time to migrate the projects may vary depending on the size of
the projects and limitations in RAM, CPU, disk, network and so on.
2. Ensure that your client application has a large amount of RAM reserved. It may otherwise take
hours to export to XML files, and import of XML files may fail due to lack of memory. See "Hardware
Requirements" on page 2-2 about RAM needs, and "Changing RAM Distribution in a Client" on page
7-8 in TEMS Cellplanner Installation Guide how to tune the client application memory.

Procedure

For each TEMS CellPlanner project to migrate:

1. Open the project file.

2. Perform a project consistency check.
3. Export the project as an XML file. Use the export function — File >Export >TCPU XML to export
projects from TEMS CellPlanner Universal 6.0.x, 6.1.x or 6.2.x — File >Export >TCP XML to export
projects from TEMS CellPlanner 7.0.x
Select a temporary directory, type in a file name (project name) and click Export.

When all projects have been exported to XML files, you can proceed with the migration.

4. Install TEMS CellPlanner 7.1 software according to instructions in this document.

5. Verify license.

The existing license file (stand alone version) is automatically copied into the Bin folder of the new
installation and no load of the license is needed. You can start TEMS CellPlanner 7.1 immediately.
This works only when the existing license is a valid license from TEMS CellPlanner 7.0. Customers
with older versions must acquire and load a new license, see "Previous License File" on page 8-3 in
TEMS Cellplanner Installation Guide for more information.

For each TEMS CellPlanner project

6. Import projects from previous version.

When TEMS CellPlanner 7.1 is installed, select File > Import > TCP XML. The dialog window shows
the supported TCP versions for XML import. Find your previously exported file, select it and click
Open. TEMS CellPlanner loads the old XML file and transforms it to a TEMS CellPlanner 7.1 project.
When completed, you can re-save the project in 7.1 XML format so that you will not have to go
through the transformation process again
7. Verify coordinate reference system.
If the coordinate reference system used for the exported project does not exist in the
Coordinates.xml file, it is created during the import and added to the list of existing coordinate
systems. The used coordinate system can be displayed by clicking View in the Project settings
window.
8. Verify maps in project settings.
The preprocessed map data (MRR format) used for calculations is selected in the Maps tab of the
Project settings window.

After migration

It is recommended to re-calculate the results, as previous calculations may be obsolete. The re-
calculation is to be carried out by the user(s) concerne
