FRIENDSHIP

What is a friend? A single soul dwelling in two bodies. Aristotle What does Friendship Mean? We have often sought answers to these questions, yet we have never come up with an adequate answer. This is because this relationship is an amalgamation of beautiful and complex feelings, which may not often be described in words. Defining a relationship is never easy, as there are so many facets to it. However we don't need a bunch of words to make us realize the deep meaning of friendship. According to George Elliot "Friendship is the inexpressible comfort of feeling safe with a person, having neither to weigh thoughts nor measure words." When two people share a strong bond of mutual understanding, respect and love it lays the foundation stone for an everlasting friendship. This bond just gets stronger with time the trust between the two people grows and so does the attachment. This is the beauty of the relationship and is the essential meaning of friendship.Being friends means being there for each other at all times, whether it's good or bad. A friend needs to be very understanding and give each other the benefit of the doubt. Ideally the meaning of friendship is sharing unconditional love for each other. However this is not an ideal world therefore some form of expectations are allowed, but that has a limit too. The purpose and meaning of friendship is to make life's burdens lighter for our friends and not make them heavier. The Roman thinker Cicero said "Friendship makes prosperity brighter, while it lightens adversity by sharing its griefs and anxieties." Searching for the meaning of friendship is so difficult. However as soon as we meet our friends all these questions get answered automatically. The answer to what is the meaning of friendship lies within our hearts, because true friendship can only be felt, and not expressed. Something so pure and essential is not always visible to the eye, but is felt by the heart. Characteristics of good friends who form a friendship as follows:

The tendency to desire what is best for the other Sympathy and empathy Honesty, even in situations where it may be difficult for others to speak the truth Mutual understanding and compassion; ability to go to each other for emotional support Trust in one another Positive reciprocity equal give-and-take between the two parties The ability to be oneself, express one's feelings and make mistakes without fear of judgement

Three significant factors make the formation of a friendship possible:

proximity, which means being near enough to see each other or do things together; repeatedly encountering the person informally and without making special plans to see each other; and opportunities to share ideas and personal feelings with each other

Are there different types of friendship? Sure. There are many types of relationships and they may be hard to classify. I have encountered at least 3 different types. Situational friends. You see each other regularly, have fun together, even share occasional disappointments. When you move or something changes, you don't stay in touch. Ex. : activity and location based - work, gym, clubs, etc. Casual friends. Meet each other once in a while, go out for lunch and dinner, catch up on the news/gossip. You like each other, appreciate the company. But are are not best friends. Close friends. They understand the real you, help when you're in trouble and are people you can rely on. They will not betray you, they let you in their lives and care about you deeply. Such people don't come along often and such relationships are to be cherished.

Can we live without having a 'Friendship'? No, we can't live without friends. We need to have friends as we need to breath air. You can probably live without a friendship, but would be depressed, because usually friends help you get through hard times, and encourage you to do your best. It's good to have atleast one friendship that will last. A true friend is someone who sticks by you when you are down and celebrates with you when you are up. It's someone you trust. It is someone who understands you, knows the real you and appreciates the person you are. A friend is one that knows you as you are, understands where you have been, accepts what you have become, and still, gently allows you to grow. William Shakespeare The reason a person dont have a friend 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. Effect of a person dont have a friend 1. 2. 3. 4. The life is empty There is no person for sharing Can make a person being crazy Hard to believe by the others

Conclusion
We are social person, who cannot live without others. In choosing a friend, we must be smart to choose the correct society to bring in a positive way, and also must keep a friendship. when we are separated by distance, we must still communicate with each other so that friendship does not end.
