Angelitos de Oro
March 2009
The Angelitos Card Week 2009 will take place Thursday, October 22 through Wednesday,
October 28, 2009.
Last year over 3,000 shoppers used the Angelitos Card at more than 125 stores and restaurants which
participated in this marketing promotion. The Angelitos Card is designed to generate retail sales and
new customers, as well as serve as a fundraiser for Angelitos de Oro, a non-profit organization
dedicated to supporting the mentoring programs of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Orange County.
An extensive marketing and advertising campaign will be initiated to promote the Angelitos Card
Week. South Coast Plaza, together with Angelitos de Oro, will launch the program with a gala event
for 500 people on October 8th.
How does the Angelitos Card Week 2009 work for the retailer and the consumer?
This program presents a perfect “pre-sell” opportunity to entice customers to your store for early

Big Brothers Big Sisters is a nonprofit organization with the mission to help children reach their potential
through professionally-supported, one-on-one mentoring relationships. The organization achieves its
mission by:
• providing youth (Littles) with an adult or high school mentor that is consistent, and forms a
relationship that is ongoing, supportive, educational, safe and fun;
• supplying mentors (Bigs) with the resources and support they need to be effective mentors to at-risk
youth; and
• enhancing the ongoing relationship (Match) between a Big and a Little with enrichment activities
and asset-building opportunities.
Big Brothers Big Sisters of Orange County has served over 1,500 children through community, school and
group-based mentoring programs just this year. The programs provided the children with safe, quality
relationships that helped them develop by:
The revenue generated by the sale of the Angelitos Card goes directly to support the High School Bigs
program that provides high school students as mentors to elementary school students in schools within the
Orange County region.
The program reaches a group of children in Orange County who are at high risk of educational, social,
emotional and behavioral difficulties, but may not necessarily have access to a community-based program
for the support they need. In some cases, the school-based mentoring program may be reaching higher-risk
children and families. Supporting these children at their school sites provides the convenience and safety
that makes parents and educators feel comfortable, and yield some of the same benefits to youth as the
traditional community-based program.
The funds raised by the Angelitos Card truly make a difference in the lives of children in Orange County.
