AmeriCorps*VISTA Opening Hunger Free Vermont is seeking candidates for a full-time, 12 month AmeriCorps VISTA position to start in February/March,

2014. Seeking collaborative, critical thinker to join our program team and work on expanding Hunger Free Vermonts capacity to provide nutrition education opportunities for low-income Vermonters. VISTA Job Description: The VISTA Team member will receive training and support from a manager and colleagues, and will increase her/his experience and skills in project management, communication, public speaking, strategic planning, and public education in nutrition and hunger issues. The position is supervised by Hunger Free Vermonts Nutrition Education Manager and is part of the organizations Nutrition Education Team. This team functions as part of a comprehensive Program Team, which meets regularly and collaborates as appropriate. VISTA Responsibilities: Participate in developing new and sustainable models for delivering nutrition education to target audiences, with a specific focus on building partnerships with farmers and other distributors of locally grown food, as well as food pantries and other food distribution programs Participate in developing and revising existing curricula as needed Coordinate Hunger Free Vermonts Learning Kitchen classes and provide training to new Learning Kitchen hosts and instructors throughout Vermont Broaden outreach methods using available technology Develop and maintain program materials and communications, such as monthly enewsletters for program participants Participate in program evaluation analysis and development Qualifications: Bachelors degree, preferably with a degree in nutrition or other health-related field, as well as experience in nutrition education development or implementation. Proficiency in MS Office Suite Excellent written and oral communication skills Attention to detail Strong work ethic Valid drivers license for in-state travel and ability to work some evenings and weekends Applicants must be available to begin in February/March, 2014 (exact dates TBD)

Working Conditions & Physical Demands Internal Work Conditions: Work is performed in an office environment. There is a moderate level of noise from office equipment (phone, copier, etc). Work is performed in an office environment with no direct exposure to hazardous materials/conditions. Physical Demands: Work is performed largely from a seated position. Must be able to move around the office. Work requires manual dexterity and eye-hand coordination to operate a computer keyboard/mouse, and may include occasional moving of objects up to 40 pounds. The organization will provide adaptive devices as needed within reason.
